What are float RNs?

Float RNs, or float registered nurses, are nurses who are not assigned to a specific unit or department within a healthcare facility. While this variety can be challenging, it also provides the opportunity to gain diverse clinical experience and develop a broad skill set. Most hospitals provide orientation or training for float nurses to ensure they are comfortable working in multiple areas, and you’ll collaborate closely with unit staff to deliver quality patient care.
