Registered Nurse (RN) – PICU / PCICU Float Pool (Travel Contract)

Location: Oak Lawn & Park Ridge, Illinois 60453 Facility: Advocate Children's Hospital (ACH Enterprise)

  • 300 Licensed Beds
  • Level I Trauma Center
  • Teaching Hospital
  • Certified Chest Pain & Stroke Center
  • Pediatric specialty care across multiple campuses
Unit Overview (PICU / PCICU)
  • 19–23 Bed Pediatric ICU
  • Average Census: 15–18 patients/day
  • Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: 2:1
  • Patient Population:
    • Respiratory conditions
    • Congenital heart disease
    • Hematology/Oncology
    • Post-operative care
    • Trauma cases
Key Responsibilities
  • Provide high-quality critical care to pediatric patients
  • Manage ventilators, drips, and post-op recovery
  • Collaborate with intensivists and multidisciplinary teams
  • Maintain accurate documentation using EPIC
  • Float as needed within pediatric units
Requirements
  • Minimum 2 years of PICU experience
  • Active Illinois RN License
  • BLS & PALS Certification (Required)
  • NRP (Preferred)
  • First-time travelers accepted

  • Charge Nurse available on every shift

  • Respiratory Therapy 24/7
  • Hospitalist & Intensivist coverage 24/7

Floating

Scheduling & Shift Details
  • Shift: Night Shift (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
  • Weekend Rotation: Every other weekend
  • Holiday Requirement: 75% of holidays
  • Schedule Cycle: 6 weeks
  • RTO: Requires Resource Team approval
Orientation
  • New Employee Orientation (NEO)
  • 2 days unit-specific orientation (PICU/PCICU)
