Job description

Leading conducting mechanical design activities on combined cycle projects including pipe sizing and routing, material selection, pipe support design, valve selection, P&ID development, equipment layout, equipment specifications, and hydraulic calculations, developing datasheets for valves and other equipment, providing technical direction to designers, developing project scopes, schedules and budgets, making sound independent decisions with minimal information, and assisting in checkout and startup of systems when necessary.

Requirements

BS in Mechanical Engineering

experience with design of new construction and/or retrofit of power generation or heavy industrial facilities and the ability to take the lead role for detailed design activities, significant knowledge of mechanical engineering design principles, proficiency with applicable codes, standards and regulatory requirements, experience in development, preparation and checking of P&IDs, experience with overall design and layout

of piping systems, pipe sizing and routing, material selection, pipe support design, equipment selection, preparation of inquiry packages/data sheets, and specification of tanks, pumps, and balance of plant equipment, experience with hydraulic calculations. Pipe-Flo (or similar software) experience is preferred, significant working knowledge of processes equipment including piping, valves (manual/control/relief), pumps, pressure vessels, and heat exchangers, experience with relief valve and control sizing, and
