Structural Strength Instrumentation/Electrical Engineering Technician III

Astrion is seeking a Structural Strength Instrumentation/Electrical Engineering Technician level III.
This position supports the METTS III contract at NASA's Marshall Space Flight Center (MSFC) on Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, Alabama. It involves supporting NASA's Structural Strength Test Branch, as well as contractor personnel, in research and development, configuration, and maintenance of test article systems and testing infrastructure.
This role provides semi-professional technical support to engineers and requires a working knowledge of science or engineering principles.
The position receives direction from the Department Manager and Team Leads.
This position is for first shift working 4-10 schedule 6:00am - 4:30pm Mondays through Thursdays.
This position is subject to random drug testing.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS:
• Some practical knowledge of science or engineering
• Some practical knowledge of mathematics
Education:
• High School Graduate or GED
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS:
• Associate degree or High School diploma and/or 3 years equivalent technical experience
• Experience should include a working knowledge of Microsoft Windows Operating Systems for personal computers and MS Office products.
• Experience with forklifts, aerial lifts, and bridge cranes
Essential Job Functions:
• Must be able to work from written and verbal instructions
• Good communication (written and verbal) skills.
• Must adhere to MSFC and OSHA safety requirements, including use of appropriate PPE when necessary and follow written technical procedures.
• Must be dependable and willing to work hours outside the normal schedule.
• Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and workmanship
• Experience reading and understanding specifications and detailed work instructions
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Structural Strength Instrumentation/Electrical Engineering Technician Level III duties include, but are not limited to:
• Assembling space flight test articles.
• Performing routine maintenance, installation/integration of various types of mechanical and instrumentation components such as strain gauges, pressure transducers, thermocouples, load cells, hydraulic actuators, tubing, etc.
• Instrumentation applications, data collection and analysis, network maintenance, electrical assembly, soldering, crimping, fabricating various types of cables/connectors.
• Specialized handling, transportation, operation of one of a kind test articles and associated components.
• Conducts various tests or experiments which may require minor modifications in test setups or procedures as well as subjective judgments in measurement, selecting, preparing, and operating standard test equipment and records test data.
• May be required to operate within confined spaces.
• Interfacing directly with MSFC customers, technicians, and other test team members.
• This position will perform other duties as required to fulfill the mission of the MSFC Structural Strength Testing Branch.

• Must be able to pass a MSFC physical examination for any required safety-related certifications.

The need for these screenings is determined based on the outcomes of the Safety, Health, and Environmental Job Assessment Questionnaire. • Must be able to lift 40lbs with or without reasonable accommodation.
• Must be able to work at heights.
Other Essential Functions:
• Must be able to pass a security background check per Redstone Arsenal/MSFC requirements
Security Clearance Requirement:
• Requires ability to obtain and maintain NASA Public Trust background screening requirements.
