Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking a Principal / Sr Principal Systems Engineer for the Modeling, Simulation, and Analysis (MS&A) team. This position is located in Roy, UT and supports the Sentinel program.
As a Modeling, Simulation, and Analysis Systems Engineer, you will support a diverse team of engineers on a variety of projects supporting Sentinel intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) weapon system accuracy. The candidate will support completion of the following projects:
  • Physics-based predictive modeling and simulation of ICBM accuracy performance
  • Maturation of Sentinel accuracy error models
  • Post flight estimation of Sentinel accuracy performance
  • Estimation of accuracy error model parameters using ground and flight test data
  • Validation & verification (V&V) of Sentinel accuracy error models
  • Preparation of Sentinel accuracy reports
  • Presentations of projects and studies to Northrop Grumman Sentinel leadership and USG customers

Basic Qualifications:
This requisition may be filled at either the Principal Systems Engineer level (T-03) or Sr. Principal Systems Engineer level (T-04).
Principal Systems Engineer:
  • Bachelor's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university and 5 years of experience with Bachelor's degree, 3 years of experience with Master's degree, 1 year with a PhD

Sr. Principal Systems Engineer:
  • Bachelor's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university and 8 Years of related experience; 6 Years with Masters; 4 Years with PhD

Required for both levels:
  • Must be a US Citizen with an active U.S. Government Secret Clearance, at time of application, current and within scope, with an investigation date within the last 6 years
  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) approval within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business need
  • Must be able to support program tasks in a secure lab environment (on site) for a minimum of 90% of their total work time
  • Demonstrated experience with physics-based mathematical modeling and simulation
  • Proficiency in scientific computer programming (Python, C++/C#, SQL, MATLAB, R or similar)

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Active U.S. Government Top Secret security clearance at time of application, current and within scope
  • Outstanding skills in building rapport and interfacing with external team partners
  • Proactive self-starter capable of identifying gaps and problems in/with processes and proposing and implementing solutions
  • Experience with complex requirement development and traceability
  • Experience with object-oriented programming (e.g., C++)
  • Experience with or interest in dynamic systems, feedback control, and estimation
  • Experience with Agile Release Train (ART) or Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe)
  • Experience with the Atlassian Tool Suite

This position's standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.
This role may offer a competitive relocation assistance package.

Primary Level Salary Range: $98,400.00 - $147,600.00
Secondary Level Salary Range: $122,800.00 - $184,200.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
