Responsibilities

Sabre Systems is currently recruiting for a Tactical Operations and Air/Weapons Specialist (Journeyman) to support the Navy’s Portfolio Acquisition Executive for Robotic & Autonomous Systems (PAE RAS) at Patuxent River Naval Air Station in Lexington Park, MD. The AIR PMO operates under PAE RAS and focuses specifically on aircraft‑related unmanned systems, formerly known as the Navy and Marine Corps Small Tactical UAS Program Office. Its responsibilities include testing, certification, and operational integration of unmanned aerial systems (UAS) for shipboard and shore‑based operations. The AIR PMO coordinates all aspects of the program including battery certifications, funding, flight clearances, and Concept of Operations (CONOPS) development, ensuring safe and effective integration with fleet operations. This role offers a hybrid work schedule with telework authorized. However, during the first six to nine months, the primary focus is for this candidate to obtain NAVAIR Empowerment by working on‑site approximately one week per month for in‑person on‑the‑job training and mentoring.


The selected candidate will be responsible for not limited to:



  • Act as the primary point of contact for information and process knowledge regarding specific type Flight Clearance (FC) for their assigned platform(s). Includes awareness of normal fleet use, training, developmental testing, operational testing, change recommendations, services contracts, FMS services, and Contractor Owned/ Contractor Operated services.

  • Coordinate and execute the management/ development of all assigned FC products.

  • Track and ensure the transition of Interim FC (IFC) content into the appropriate Permanent FC (PFC).

  • Create, update, and submit tracking reports to the PMA, and other stakeholders, on status of current IFC/PFC products.

  • Develop required content and facilitate the FC progression through each engineering review for airworthiness approval.

  • Create and present formal briefs in support of new or changing fleet capabilities and/or new type UAS.

  • Facilitate or host meetings/ briefings as needed by the APME/ APMSE, or as needed by other team members of the PMA.


Qualifications

Requirements:



  • HS/GED and 8 years of related experience or an Associate’s degree and 6 years of experience or Bachelor’s Degree and 4 years of experience.

  • Experience developing and implementing configuration management procedures for technical data.

  • Experience communicating with a variety of Stakeholders including NAVAIR Systems Engineering Leadership, NAVAIR Engineering Subject Matter Experts, and Fleet users.

  • Experience in Flight Operations as a member of a crewed aircraft platform, manned or unmanned. Either Civil or DoD applications.

  • Demonstrate working knowledge of FAA NAS policies, as they pertain to different class areas, altitudes, and dimensions.

  • Knowledge of DCMA, DoD, OPNAV, CNAF, NAVAIR documents, directives, orders, and/ or instructions as they pertain to flight operations, and maintenance procedures for both unmanned and manned platforms.

  • Knowledge of Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) flight/ operator/ maintenance manuals’ use and structure. Can translate OEM information into DoD/ NAVAIR program, procedure(s), and technical language.

  • Be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office products and possess a strong computer-use background to include using editorial and graphics software running local, networked, or web-based platforms, and websites.

  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills

  • Knowledge and application of critical thinking to solve problems

  • Self-sufficient, motivated, and proactive

  • Ability to work independently with little guidance

  • Must have an active DoD Secret Clearance or higher.

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen


Travel Requirements:



  • Planned Travel 10%

  • CONUS/OCONUS (Hawaii only)

Compensation Statement

At Sabre Systems, LLC, compensation is based on factors such as location, qualifications, experience, and contract-specific requirements; however, final compensation will be determined by individual qualifications and applicable contract terms. The general salary range for this position is as follows: $110,688.00 - $123,378.00
