Position Introduction/Key Duties
Cimarron is seeking Flight Controllers/Instructors to support commercial space operations at multiple locations across the United States. Cimarron is actively recruiting experienced professionals from NASA and NASA contractor backgrounds who are ready to bring their expertise to the rapidly growing commercial space industry!

Key Duties:
  • Plan, execute, and monitor flight operations in support of commercial space missions.
  • Develop, maintain, and deliver flight operations training curricula and simulation exercises.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert in spacecraft systems, mission procedures, and flight rules.
  • Conduct crew and operator training for nominal and off-nominal mission scenarios.
  • Coordinate with engineering, mission planning, and safety teams to support readiness reviews and mission milestones.
  • Author and review flight procedures, flight rules, and training documentation.
  • Support anomaly investigation, lessons-learned capture, and continuous improvement of flight operations processes.
  • Provide real-time mission support as required, including console operations and team lead functions.

Required/Desired Skills, Experience, and Education
Required Skills, Experience, and Education:
  • Due to facility security requirements, only U.S. citizens are eligible for consideration at this time.
  • This position requires access to federal facilities. Candidates must possess a valid, unexpired Real ID-compliant driver's license or state-issued identification card at the time of hire. If you are unsure whether your ID is Real ID-compliant, please check for the star symbol in the upper portion of your driver's license or state ID.
  • Ability to complete a pre-employment background check and drug screening, which will include but is not limited to testing for marijuana use.
  • 1 or more years of general, full-time work experience.
    • May be reduced with the completion of advanced education.
  • 1 or more years of directly related experience in flight operations, flight control, or spaceflight training in a NASA, NASA contractor, or equivalent commercial space environment.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in spacecraft systems operations and mission execution.
  • Experience developing or delivering flight operations or systems training programs.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to produce clear technical documentation.
  • Bachelor's degree.

Desired Skills, Experience, and Education:
  • Experience as a NASA Flight Controller, Flight Director, or certified flight operations instructor.
  • Familiarity with commercial launch systems, orbital platforms, or commercial crew/cargo programs.
  • Background in human spaceflight operations (ISS, Orion, Commercial Crew, or equivalent).
  • Experience with simulation tools and training system development.
  • Proficiency in mission planning tools, flight dynamics software, or telemetry systems.
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Aerospace Engineering, Physics, Systems Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Experience working in a multi-team, fast-turnaround mission operations environment.
