Join our dynamic team as a HLS GN&C Flight Simulation Engineer and become a vital contributor to support NASA as an Oceaneering Teammate on the JSC Engineering, Technology, and Science (JETS) II contract. As an integral part of our organization, you'll play a crucial role in the GN&C Aerosciences and Flight Mechanics section in the Engineering Department on the NASA JSC Engineering, Technology and Science II (JETS II) Contract.

We are seeking someone with a keen eye for detail, a strong commitment to owning their work, and providing superior quality. Someone in this role would typically have a Bachelor's degree in Engineering.  This position can be hired at any level in our professional career framework, depending on business need at the time of hire.

**International travel may be required. Straight time overtime, 9/80 work schedule (every other Friday off), and/or 1 day of telework per week may be available** 

Required

  • Typically requires a bachelor's degree in Engineering experience in the field or in a related area.
  • Experience in the development of flight control systems for aerospace vehicles
  • Experience developing, verifying, and validating GN&C math models and 6-DOF simulations
  • Experience with Linux, C/C++ and Python
  • Experience modeling and analyzing dynamic systems in the frequency domain.
  • Familiarity with system identification and building linear models from time-domain measurements.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize tasks in order to meet deadlines and schedules with limited supervision
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills and the ability to work in a team environment consisting of NASA civil servants and various contractor employees.

Preferred 

  • MS in Aerospace Engineering with on a focus on GN&C and flight controls
  • Knowledge of GN&C principles with a background in flight dynamics/orbital mechanics
  • Knowledge in the design, analysis, and implementation of navigation algorithms
  • Experience contributing to large, multi-language simulation and architectures and ability to learn unfamiliar code bases.
  • Experience with GIT configuration control tool. 

Proof of U.S. Citizenship or US Permanent Residency is a requirement for this position.
Must be able to complete a U.S. government background investigation.
Management has the prerogative to select at any level for which the position is advertised.

As a HLS GN&C Flight Simulation Engineer you will:

  • Provide math modeling and simulation development of guidance and flight control algorithms for automatic and piloted manual flight of lunar landers
  • Develop formal math model and simulation documentation
  • Identify team simulation tasks, resolve simulation related issues and assist team members.
  • Directly interact with the NASA customers, along with various NASA support contractors, during technical meetings and working groups.
  • Perform other duties as required.
