Description
Western Michigan University Homer Stryker M.D. School of Medicine is searching for a Registered Nurse Team Lead in the Primary Care Clinic. Under the guidance and supervision of the Clinical Nursing Manager, responsible for overseeing the Family Medicine clinic workflow and staffing assignments. Works closely with the Primary Care Nursing Manager on a continual basis to manage staffing levels for each clinic, and coordinate care in an environment that enhances clinical practice and resident/student education.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Coordinates staffing levels and Clinical workflow in the Family Medicine clinic.
  • Acts as the Vaccine coordinator for VFC program.
  • Assists physicians in patient flow, treatment, testing and orders.
  • Fills in as needed during staffing shortages.
  • Monitors staffing and workflow and makes suggestions to the Clinical Nursing Manager for adjustments.
  • Assists the Clinical Nursing Manager with coordinating daily and monthly schedules.
  • Assists the Clinical Nursing Manager with interviewing and selection of new staff.
  • Responsible for orientation for new staff.
  • Assists in on-going training for department staff.
  • Assists the Clinical Nursing Manager in resolving staff issues/conflicts.
  • Assists the Clinical Nursing Manager and physicians in identifying and maintaining clinical practice guidelines.
  • Attend meetings as requested.
  • Availability to work occasional overtime on weekends or evenings to complete time sensitive projects.
  • Acquires knowledge for new technology and policy/procedure revisions.
  • Assist in meeting Quality and Payer Incentive program goals.
  • All other duties as assigned.
Requirements
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
  • Associate's degree in nursing, Bachelor's education preferred.
  • Relevant experience preferred.
  • Minimum of two years' experience in an ambulatory care setting required; three years preferred.
LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS, CERTIFICATIONS:
  • Current Michigan RN license.
  • Current BLS certification required.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
  • High level of organizational skills and the ability to concurrently manage multiple tasks.
  • Ability to teach and mentor.
  • Knowledge and proficiency in clinical information systems (e.g., EMR).
  • Knowledge and proficiency in payroll timekeeping system.
  • Demonstrated conflict resolution skills.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with others verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to meet assigned deadlines.
  • Ability to interpret, comprehend, and transmit complicated and detailed instructions accurately.
  • Ability to accept and apply feedback.
  • Regular and predictable attendance is expected.
  • Demonstrates the ability to recognize priorities in organization of workflow.
  • Able to perform duties independently, with a minimal need for direct supervision.
