This position allows for partial telework with management approval.

Core Responsibilities:

The Public Health Educator III position conducts Vaccines for Children (VFC) quality assurance visits, and evaluations of health care facilities and provider offices enrolled in the VFC and Adult program. In this position, you will disseminate compliance and best practice health information to provider office staff in compliance with federal and state VFC program guidelines. You will serve as the Adolescent Vaccine Coordinator for the Maine Immunization Program and assist with program operations.

You will also:

  • Conduct quality assurance site visits for the Vaccines for Children (VFC) program
  • Disseminate compliance and best practice health information; and providing technical assistance
  • Support implementation and compliance with state and federal immunization guidelines
  • Provide immunization education and recommendations for all age groups
  • Enroll and support providers that offer immunizations
  • Provide field education and customer service calls from the public and Providers regarding vaccines and immunizations.
  • Develop curriculum, provide training and education and provide technical assistance to Providers to ensure that storage, handling, and documentation of vaccines are in accordance with the Maine Immunization Program requirements.
  • Assist with completing the Cooperative Agreement reports as needed.
  • Attend annual conferences and health fairs
  • Host educational webinars and trainings
  • Other duties related to position as they arise.

Preferred candidateswill also have:

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong knowledge of vaccine schedules
  • Ability to be flexible and adapt to change
  • Experience in outreach and collaboration skills are essential

Minimum Qualifications:

A bachelor's degree in Public Health, Community Health Education, Health Education and two (2) years' experience in community or health education program planning, development, implementation, and evaluation. Directly related work experience may be substituted for education on a year-for-year basis.
