Job description

Mine Operator

Summary:

This position is responsible for working closely with the Mine Supervisor to ensure efficient operation of the mine site and raw product flow to the plant.

Essential Skills:

· Operates heavy equipment (scraper, dozer, and front-end loader) at mine locations to ensure consistent access to raw materials that supply plant location.

· Assists in ensuring that all safety measures, guidelines, and regulations are being accurately followed and reports any concerns to the appropriate supervisor(s) or regulatory personnel on a weekly basis.

· Helps to support and track the production of the mine from the processing of raw materials through the development of the mined product.

· Coordinates closely with plant personnel and trucking team members to make sure the plant has a steady supply of raw material.

· Takes samples to the plant lab for testing. Utilizing the lab results, assures that mining occurs within appropriate materials.

· Responsible for completing necessary paperwork, as assigned by the Mine Supervisor, to ensure compliance with MSHA, state and federal requirements.

· Before moving to another site, assists with the reclamation of the present site to meet federal and state requirements.

· Assists with training new and existing employees on the use of the equipment utilized at the mine.

· Tours and inspects mine site to detect and resolve production issues with supervisor.

· Other duties as assigned by supervisor(s).

Qualifications & Requirements:

· A good understanding of mining and heavy equipment operation which allows ability to problem solve and troubleshoot issues as they arise that impact the production of the mine.

· General knowledge of machinery and the ability to operate machinery such as, but not limited to, loaders, excavators, scrapers, and trucks in a safe manner.

· Preferred experience: Understanding of drilling functions and exploration.

· Able to lift up to 50lbs.

· Able to use hand tools.

· Effective listening and verbal communication skills.

· Able to interact with external business entities effectively, positively, and professionally, such as vendors, customers, and truck drivers

· Must perform tasks with integrity, competence, care and attention to detail, and demonstrate good judgment

· Expediently resolves issues and follows through on details

· Exhibits patience, professionalism, and courtesy in internal and external communications

· Encourages a positive and flexible working environment

Able to work in extreme weather conditions

Classification: Hourly, paid bi-weekly, benefits eligible
