Job description

Overview

We are seeking an experienced Patient Assistance Counselor III / Insurance Verification Specialist to support patients who are uninsured, underinsured, or facing high out-of-pocket prescription and medical expenses. In this role, you will work directly with patients and healthcare providers to determine eligibility for patient assistance programs, conduct insurance investigations, review application documentation, and provide status updates throughout the process.

This position is ideal for candidates who have extensive insurance verification experience, thrive in a call center environment, and are passionate about helping patients navigate healthcare and financial assistance programs.

Required Qualifications
  • 5+ years of insurance verification experience (required)
  • 5+ years of call center/customer support experience (required)
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Strong knowledge of insurance benefits and eligibility verification
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Ability to demonstrate empathy and professionalism in challenging situations
  • Experience handling sensitive patient information in a HIPAA-compliant environment
Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct insurance investigations and verify coverage information
  • Review and process patient assistance applications and supporting documentation
  • Assess patient financial information and determine eligibility
  • Communicate application status and outcomes to patients and healthcare providers
  • Deliver high-quality customer service while handling complex patient inquiries
  • Maintain accurate documentation and case records
  • Ensure compliance with HIPAA and privacy guidelines
Work Schedule
  • Hours of operation: 7:00 AM โ€“ 7:00 PM CST
  • Assigned shifts based on business needs (employees do not select their shift)
  • Training schedule: 8:00 AM โ€“ 4:30 PM CST for approximately 6-10 weeks
  • No planned time off will be approved during the training period

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $23.80 - $23.80/hr.
