Job description

We are seeking an experienced healthcare risk management and regulatory compliance leader to serve as Associate Vice President of Risk Management and Regulatory Compliance. This corporate leadership role provides oversight for company-wide risk management, patient safety, performance improvement, regulatory readiness, and licensure compliance activities across behavioral health facilities.
The ideal candidate is a collaborative, detail-oriented leader with strong clinical, regulatory, and performance improvement knowledge and the ability to support facility leaders through audits, surveys, incident reviews, corrective action planning, and continuous readiness activities.
What You’ll Do
  • Lead and maintain the company-wide risk management program, including the written risk management plan, related policies and procedures, and annual evaluation of program effectiveness.
  • Partner with the Corporate Chief Compliance Officer and executive leadership on facility-based regulatory, licensure, compliance, and survey readiness matters.
  • Serve on the Corporate Compliance Committee and act as a resource for internal and external compliance audits.
  • Ensure corrective action plans and plans of correction are documented, implemented, monitored, and sustained.
  • Oversee internal incident reporting processes and ensure timely entry, review, follow-up, investigation, and reporting as appropriate.
  • Collaborate with facility Risk Directors and executive leadership on serious incidents, sentinel events, near misses, significant adverse events, investigations, and root cause analyses.
  • Oversee the corporate patient safety program, including written plans, annual evaluations, policies, procedures, and patient safety initiatives.
  • Monitor facility performance improvement initiatives and ensure regulatory requirements are reflected in committee documentation and meeting minutes.
  • Lead continuous regulatory readiness activities across facilities, including mock surveys, tracer activities, Electronic Health Record auditing, and annual ligature risk assessment support.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
What We’re Looking For
  • Master’s degree in Nursing, Social Work, Public Health, Healthcare Administration, or a related field preferred; bachelor’s degree with 2–3 years of behavioral health experience may be considered.
  • Experience in healthcare risk management, regulatory compliance, patient safety, quality improvement, or behavioral health operations.
  • Strong knowledge of healthcare clinical fundamentals, patient safety standards, regulatory readiness, performance improvement standards, and CQI tools and techniques.
  • Demonstrated leadership, communication, collaboration, negotiation, research, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to analyze data, lead performance improvement teams, prepare reports and business correspondence, and present information effectively to leadership groups.
  • Proficiency with applicable computer systems, software programs, spreadsheets, and electronic health record auditing processes.
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse populations and across multiple facilities.
Compensation, Benefits, and Location

  • Reports To: Senior Vice President of Healthcare Services.
  • Department: Corporate Executive Operations Team.
  • Location: Remote with 50 – 75% travel
  • Benefits: Competitive medical, dental, vision, retirement, paid time off, and other applicable benefits.

The employee must be able to communicate effectively, work in behavioral health environments, and respond professionally to challenging situations in support of patient safety and facility operations.
