Schedule:
7-On/7-Off B week
8:00 PM – 6:30 PM (flexible)

Department: Exception Handling - 237
Primary Purpose:
The Laboratory Client Support Specialist works independently to provide problem solving on issues that are complex in nature. Serves as a preanalytic resource, subject matter expert and mentor for their department and division. Trains new employees in the department and retrains employees as needed. A college degree or coursework in healthcare or life sciences is preferred.

Essential Functions:

Resolves complex issues with internal and external clients and departments.

Manages client concerns to reach an acceptable solution. Escalates issues as appropriate in each instance.

Monitors and reassigns workforce based on workload.

Assists with training of new employees on all functions within the department.

Answers questions for employees related to process, policy and procedure. Assist in the development of employees within the Laboratory Support Technician career ladder.

Issues credits as appropriate.

Maintains thorough knowledge of specimen acceptation/rejection policies for the section.

Works as a liaison between clients/department and other areas of ARUP.

Serves in the capacity of Laboratory Support Technician as workload and staffing require.

Assists supervisor, trainer or designee with activities such as developing training plans, training modules, and procedure revisions.

Communicates with other departments as requested by the supervisor or in their absence.

Performs quality review by; reviewing errors log, issuing EIT’s and correcting EXCEPT tests.

Provides education and retraining as needed to all staff levels in their department.

Monitors equipment and initiates appropriate corrective action as needed.

Assists supervisor with quality assurance monitoring and documentation as defined.

Physical and Other Requirements:
Stooping: Bending body downward and forward by bending spine at the waist.
Reaching: Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction.
Mobility: The person in this position needs to occasionally move between work sites and inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
Communicate: Frequently communicate with others.
PPE: Biohazard laboratory environment that requires use of personal protective equipment in accordance with CDC and OSHA regulations and company/departmental policies.
ARUP Policies and Procedures: To conduct self in compliance with all ARUP Policies and Procedures.
Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body.
Fine Motor Control: Picking, pinching, typing or otherwise working, primarily with fingers rather than with the whole hand as in handling.
Vision: Having close, far, and peripheral visual acuity to perform a variety of tasks such as make general observations of depth and distance.
