Job description

Join a leader in automotive innovation as a Dynamometer Technician, where you’ll be hands-on with advanced engine diagnostics, powertrain testing, and emissions development. This industrial technician role involves setting up engines on the dyno, running performance tests, performing combustion analysis, and supporting mechanical and electrical engine development projects. You'll work with cutting-edge dynamometer control systems in a fast-paced, high-tech environment.
Location: Livonia, MI
Schedule: Full-Time, Day Shift and Night Shift | Overtime & Weekends as Needed
Industry: Automotive | Powertrain | Mechanical Testing
Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform engine setup, instrumentation, and teardown for dynamometer testing.
  • Monitor live test data, troubleshoot issues, and ensure test quality.
  • Support programs involving powertrain mapping, combustion analysis, emissions compliance, and mechanical power testing.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and test results for engineering reports.
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 2+ years of hands-on experience with powertrain dynamometer testing.
  • Strong mechanical and electrical diagnostic skills.
  • Proficiency with MS Office and dyno control systems.
  • Must own personal tools and rolling tool chest.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including overtime and weekends.
Preferred Skills:
  • Associate degree or technical certification in Automotive Technology or related field.
  • Engine teardown/build experience using technical manuals.
  • Exposure to powertrain calibration, diagnostics, or control systems.
  • Basic fabrication skills.
  • Experience with AVL PUMA 2.0 or A&D iTest dyno software.
