SA-TECH currently supports the Naval Air Warfare Center (NAWCAD) Naval Air Systems Command, and the NAWCAD Webster Outlying Field Divisions by providing rapid organic engineering, prototyping, reverse-engineering, environmental testing, antenna repairs and life-cycle extensions, and production capabilities.


We are currently looking to hire a Trades Helper at our St. Inigoes, MD complex to support our engineering, testing, prototyping, repair and production facilities, specifically in the Machining Department.


The following job functions are basic requirements (but other duties may be assigned as well):

  • Under supervision, setup, adjust, and operate machine shop tools and machining centers as necessary to perform precision machining and/or fabrication operations.
  • Assists one or more workers in the skilled maintenance trades by performing specific or general duties of lesser skill such as keeping a worker supplied with materials and tools; cleaning working areas, machines, and equipment; assisting journeymen by holding materials or tools; and performing other unskilled tasks as directed by journeymen.
  • The kind of work the helper is permitted to perform varies from trade to trade. In some trades the helper is confined to supplying, lifting, and holding materials and tools, as well as cleaning working areas and in other trades, the worker is permitted to perform specialized machine operations, or parts of a trade that are also performed by others.

Work Conditions:

  • Conditions will vary.
  • Position will include: 45% standing, 20% bending, 15% reaching, 5% sitting, 5% walking, and 10% lifting.
  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds unassisted.
  • Overtime may be required from time-to-time, as mission dictates.
Requirements:

Education/Experience/Skills:

  • High school education or equivalent.
  • Formal trade school, college, or military training school highly desired.
  • Knowledge of common hand and power tools.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience within a fabrication or machine shop, with basic knowledge in the safe use of hand tools and shop equipment.
  • Ability to work within a team environment.
  • Solid organizational and communication skills.
  • Current Maryland Driverโ€™s License required; must be able to be insured through companyโ€™s vehicle insurance policy while driving work/government/rental vehicles during working hours, and for the duration of employment.
  • U.S. Citizenship required and you must already have or be able to obtain a U.S. DoD Secret Security Clearance prior to start date and maintain a Secret clearance throughout employment.
  • All candidates will be required to pass background screening to include SSN, Driver Record, and Criminal Background Investigation.
