Flex Rn Memory Care information

What is a Flex RN in Memory Care?

A Flex RN in Memory Care is a Registered Nurse who provides flexible, as-needed nursing support in facilities or units specializing in memory care, such as those serving patients with Alzheimer's or other forms of dementia. Flex RNs may work varying shifts and cover gaps in staffing, ensuring residents receive high-quality care tailored to their cognitive and physical needs. Their responsibilities include administering medications, monitoring patient health, supporting daily living activities, and collaborating with other healthcare professionals to enhance the residents' quality of life.

How does a Flex RN in Memory Care typically collaborate with other healthcare professionals to support residents with dementia or Alzheimer's disease?

As a Flex RN in Memory Care, you will work closely with a multidisciplinary team that often includes physicians, certified nursing assistants, social workers, and therapists. Collaboration is essential to ensure holistic care for residents, particularly as you help develop, update, and implement individualized care plans. You will regularly participate in team meetings, communicate changes in residents' conditions, and provide guidance or education to support staff. This team-based approach helps address the complex needs of memory care residents and ensures a supportive environment for both residents and staff.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Flex RN in Memory Care, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Flex RN in Memory Care, you need a strong background in nursing practice, dementia care, and geriatric assessment, supported by an active RN license. Experience with electronic health records (EHRs), medication management systems, and specialized dementia care protocols is often required. Compassion, patience, effective communication, and adaptability are vital soft skills for building trust with residents and collaborating with care teams. These skills ensure high-quality, person-centered care and safety for seniors with memory impairments in a dynamic healthcare environment.

Job description

Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) – RN or LPN | Memory Care Leadership

McKnight Place Assisted Living & Memory Care | St. Louis, MO

Full-Time | Clinical Leadership | Assisted Living & Memory Care
Alzheimer's & Dementia Care | Locally Owned | 35+ Years of Excellence

McKnight Place Assisted Living & Memory Care is a locally owned, luxury senior living community in St. Louis — part of The Gatesworth Communities campus and recognized by U.S. News & World Report as a Best Assisted Living and Best Memory Care community for 2026.

We're seeking an experienced RN or LPN to step into a meaningful clinical leadership role as our Assistant Director of Nursing, with direct oversight of our Memory Care program.

This isn't a back-office role. You'll be on the floor, leading a dedicated team of RNs, LPNs, CMTs, and CNAs, shaping care plans, and driving quality outcomes for residents living with Alzheimer's and dementia — inside a community that has spent over 35 years building one of the most respected names in St. Louis senior living.

If you're a nurse leader who is ready for a role where your decisions matter and your leadership leaves a mark, we'd like to talk.

What You'll Do

  • Provide direct clinical oversight of the Memory Care program

  • Supervise, mentor, and support RNs, LPNs, CMTs, and CNAs across the nursing team

  • Coordinate and monitor individualized resident care plans in alignment with regulatory standards

  • Collaborate across departments and serve as a primary point of contact for residents' families

  • Drive safety, consistency, and quality care outcomes throughout the unit

What We're Looking For

  • Active, unencumbered Missouri RN or LPN license required

  • 2+ years of nursing leadership experience required; 3+ years preferred

  • Strong working knowledge of memory care best practices, including Alzheimer's and dementia care protocols

  • Proven ability to lead, develop, and retain a clinical team

  • Experience in assisted living, memory care, long-term care (LTC), or skilled nursing (SNF) strongly preferred

  • Excellent clinical assessment, communication, and team leadership skills

Benefits & Perks

  • Medical, Dental, Vision, and Life Insurance (full-time eligible)

  • 401(k) with company match

  • Tuition reimbursement

  • Paid Time Off (PTO)

  • Employee wellness program and Club Fitness discounted rates

  • Complimentary garage parking, discounted meals, and recognition programs

If you're ready to lead in a community that takes both resident care and staff support seriously, we'd love to hear from you. Apply today.
