Job Description:
This individual will be responsible for supporting the Environmental Test Lab functions which include: testing armored military ground vehicles and their electronics components both in a laboratory environment & at off-site test facilities. The work will involve electro-mechanical and environmental testing as well as data acquisition of tested hardware using various test equipment such as Thermotron Thermal / Humidity Test Chambers, Unholtz-Dickie Electrodynamic Shakers, SOMAT / Dewesoft / NI Data Acquisition Systems, MTS Test Controller, Hydraulic Power Supplies, Singleton Salt Fog Chamber, and Multi-Axis Rate Tables.
Responsibilities:
Responsibilities include, but not limited to:
- Representing the Test & Evaluation (T&E) / the Environmental Test Laboratories, and GDLS with all internal & external customers in a positive manner
- Assist T&E Engineers acquire relevant test equipment and tools
- Setup / install instrumentation (pressure transducers, strain gages, piezoelectric accelerometers, linear variable displacement transducers, string potentiometers, load cells, hot wire anemometers, current clamps, voltage meters, pitot tubes, flow meters, and thermocouples for specific testing
- Perform tests independently or in conjunction with T&E Engineers to record data using data acquisition systems and provide the data to T&E Engineers for documentation
- Maintain calibrated equipment throughout testing and send out as required
- Document equipment used throughout testing
- Perform maintenance and repairs on electrical assemblies, cables, etc.
- Perform maintenance on Environmental Test Laboratories equipment (Thermal / Humidity Test Chambers, Unholtz-Dickie Electrodynamic Shakers, Singleton Salt Fog Chamber)
Requirements:
- Associate technical degree in electronics or similar discipline
- 3-5 years related experience
- Electro-mechanical / environmental testing background preferred
- Hydraulic test experience preferred
- Basic soldering skills and familiarity of wire harness assembly & repair required
- Knowledge of electronic transducers and associated signal conditioning preferred
- Knowledge of calibration and metrology techniques is a plus
- Excellent organizational & verbal skills
- Eagerness to learn new concepts, software, and processes
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) required
- Familiarity with CAD applications (Visualization Mockup, Teamcenter, Creo) preferred
- Prior work on military ground-based vehicle systems preferred but not necessary
- Must meet ASR (Anthropometric Size Requirements). This position will require the candidate to be able to climb on/off, work in, and work around military vehicles is desired. Must be able to pass ASR test (Anthropometric Size Requirement for confined space).
- Must be willing to travel to test site facilities for 2 to 4 weeks at a time with potential travel up to 1.5 months per year
Must be able to obtain appropriate site clearances
