ACTIVE SECURITY CLEARANCE AT THE TS/SCI POLYGRAPH LEVEL IS REQUIRED

We are seeking an innovative, ever-curious Embedded / Firmware Reverse Engineer (flexible across Cyber Software Engineer CS2 to CS3 levels) to join our specialized team in Annapolis Junction, MD. In this role, you will dive deep into low-level architectures, analyze embedded systems, and drive the continuous development of critical capabilities for mission partners. As an engineer at Nyla, you aren't afraid to peel back the layers of complex hardware and low-level code. You will combine strong C programming expertise with deep reverse engineering practices to dissect diverse target architectures, analyze firmware, and uncover system vulnerabilities. The annual base salary range for this role is $167,000-$225,000 (USD) , which does not include discretionary bonus compensation or our comprehensive benefits package. Actual compensation offered to the successful candidate may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, and/or skill level, among other things.

, Required Skills

C Programming Mastery: Strong, demonstrable proficiency in C programming for low-level or embedded software systems development.

Reverse Engineering Expertise: Hands-on experience performing reverse engineering on diverse CPU architectures and binary targets.

Low-Level Diagnostics: Ability to analyze binary code, map system behaviors, and understand hardware/software interface layers.

Technical Problem Solving: Creative approach to dissecting complex, undocumented systems and solving intricate engineering puzzles.


Education: CS2 Level: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related technical discipline PLUS 5+ years of relevant experience. CS3 Level: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related technical discipline PLUS 10+ years of relevant experience.

Direct experience analyzing, modifying, or developing embedded firmware binaries.

Proven track record in vulnerability research (VR) and exploit analysis across novel architectures.

Experience utilizing disassembly and reverse engineering suites (e.g., Ghidra, IDA Pro, Binary Ninja).

Familiarity with low-level assembly languages (e.g., ARM, MIPS, x86/x64, PowerPC).
