Acutronic is looking for a Mechanical Engineer II to join our team in Pittsburgh, PA. In this role, you will be responsible for designing sophisticated electro-mechanical inertial guidance test systems, applying your expert engineering knowledge to create precision-driven, high-performance mechanisms. You’ll leverage advanced calculations, stress and stiffness structural analysis, and work with highly accurate closed-loop servo-controlled systems. If you have experience with gimbaled systems and stabilized platforms, we want to hear from you!

Mechanical Engineer II

Your Roles/Responsibilities:

  • Designs advanced electro-mechanical inertial guidance test systems and applying engineering knowledge, including stress and stiffness structural analysis applied to high precision closed loop servo-controlled mechanism
  • Performs sizing and selection of critical mechanical and electro-mechanical components such as precision bearings, motors, actuators, encoders, drives, etc.
  • Responsible for the preparation, review and approval of drawings, calculations, models, Bills of Material, and manufacturing work instructions
  • Prepare acceptance test procedures and writes systems manuals
  • Interfaces with customers during the design process and provides customer support after delivery
  • Contribute to the preparing and delivering of customer presentation
  • Direct the mechanical designers in developing detailed systems design
  • Participate in allocating resources and managing engineering activities
  • Perform duties under minimum supervision of Senior Mechanical Engineer
Your Profile/Qualifications/Skills:
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited college or university, required
  • A minimum of three years of experience in a related engineering environment, required
  • A combination of education and experience may be considered
  • Experience with FEA software, ANSYS preferred
  • Experience using 3D CAD software, AUTODESK Inventor preferred
