At The Bancorp, we've spent more than 25 years driving innovation in the financial services industry. As one of the first banks to embrace fintech, we combine technology, expertise and a forward-looking approach to deliver creative, real-world solutions. We work side by side with our partners to help them grow and innovate with confidence. Join a team that brings urgency and rigor to every challenge and plays a direct role in driving growth for our clients and the communities we serve.
The Bancorp's Fleet Management Services team is one of the few bank-owned direct fleet lessors in the U.S., serving both commercial and government customers. We offer end-to-end solutions for procurement, upfitting, financing, fleet management, and disposal. On this team, you'll work alongside industry experts to provide bank-direct financing and help clients optimize their fleets, manage costs and drive efficiency.
The Tag and Title Clerk role is responsible for processing and preparing tag and title documentation for the Fleet Management Services department. This position manages new and renewal vehicle registrations, out-of-state title tracking, and Department of Motor Vehicles filings to keep the fleet's title records accurate, current, and compliant. The role also monitors outstanding title work, reports on unresolved items, and partners with internal and external stakeholders to resolve issues efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
  1. Title and Registration Processing
    • Prepares tag and title documents and verifies associated costs for the Lease Finance Department.
    • Processes incoming and outgoing Manufacturer's Statements of Origin and titles to meet daily deadlines.
    • Processes new and renewal vehicle registrations in the state where each vehicle is titled.
    • Processes title applications for retail sales and prepares titles for wholesale sales.
    • Manages the Fleet Management title inventory.
  2. Regulatory Compliance and Documentation
    • Submits all legal transfer work accurately to the Department of Motor Vehicles.
    • Updates and maintains the system used to verify and track out-of-state titles.
    • Administers the Electronic Lien and Title program for mandatory states.
    • Maintains PAA Certification and PA Notary credentials for Pennsylvania-based responsibilities, obtaining each within 3 months of hire.
  3. Reporting and Tracking
    • Compiles and maintains a complete list of outstanding title work and reports status to management.
    • Provides management with a current list of outstanding titles by the monthly deadline.
    • Prepares a monthly report of funds not collected from wholesalers due to missing or incomplete title work.
    • Maintains a monthly list of customer tags and registrations to keep renewals current and processes the yearly renewal of dealer tags.
  4. Cross-Functional Coordination and Relationship Management
    • Develops close working relationships with internal underwriting and risk teams, as well as external third-party providers and merchants.
    • Initiates and maintains vendor relationships, providing credit and risk solutions in accordance with applicable processes, procedures, and standards.
    • Assists Regional License and Title teams with tag and title requests.
  5. Team Support and Backup Functions
    • Cross-trains team members on title clerk responsibilities and directs the title runner's daily routine.
    • Performs backup runner activities as needed.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualification Requirements
  • High school diploma or an equivalent combination of experience.
  • 2 years of experience in a clerical and/or accounting support role, including 1 year of automotive titling experience.
  • Valid driver's license with no more than 2 moving violations or at-fault accidents within the last 3 years (preferred).
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills (preferred).
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-fostered, multitasking environment (preferred).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel and Word (preferred).
  • Strong customer service skills (preferred).
Travel Expectations
  • Travel is required for this role.
What Success Looks Like
  • Tag and title documents are processed accurately and within required deadlines.
  • Outstanding title work is tracked, resolved, and reported with minimal aging beyond monthly targets.
  • DMV filings and legal transfers are completed without compliance errors or rework.
  • Regional License and Title teams and Lease Finance partners receive timely, accurate support.
  • Cross-trained backup coverage ensures uninterrupted title and runner operations.

Why This Role Matters
The Tag and Title Clerk role protects the integrity of The Bancorp's fleet title and registration process by ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant handling of vehicle titling across all applicable states.
