Job description

The Strategic Account Director is a senior, high-impact business development role responsible for originating and closing large, complex, high-value transactions with major construction, industrial, and infrastructure customers. This individual is a proven "rainmaker" — a seasoned sales executive with deep, pre-existing relationships across the construction equipment industry who can walk into a room and open doors at the executive level.

This role is not transactional. The primary mandate is to identify, pursue, and close major new business opportunities — including large fleet sales, long-term strategic supply agreements, and integrated equipment/tooling/consumable packages — that represent significant, high-value wins for the company. The ideal candidate combines an extensive personal network built over 15+ years in the industry with the strategic and financial acumen to structure, negotiate, and close deals of this magnitude.

The customer base includes large general contractors, EPC firms, industrial owners, scaffolding and rigging companies, and electrical/power/welding-related businesses undertaking major capital projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Originate and close large, complex new business opportunities by leveraging an established network of relationships across the construction equipment industry.
  • Serve as a true "rainmaker" for the organization — proactively identifying, cultivating, and converting major growth opportunities that materially move the company's revenue and market share.
  • Build and maintain C-suite and executive-level relationships with owners, principals, and senior decision-makers at major construction, industrial, and infrastructure organizations.
  • Develop and execute a strategic territory/account plan focused on landing new marquee accounts and large-scale, multi-year agreements, while continuing to grow and protect existing strategic relationships.
  • Lead the structuring, negotiation, and closing of large, complex contracts, including integrated equipment, tooling, and consumable packages spanning multiple AMECO business lines.
  • Act as the senior deal lead on major pursuits, coordinating internal resources (operations, finance, legal, credit) to build competitive, profitable proposals for large transactions.
  • Cross-sell and integrate AMECO's full portfolio of products, services, and platforms into major account relationships to maximize share of wallet.
  • Analyze market conditions, competitive positioning, and customer capital plans to forecast and pursue upcoming large-scale opportunities ahead of the competition.
  • Represent AMECO at industry events, trade associations, and networking forums to maintain and expand relationships across the construction equipment industry.
  • Provide senior-level guidance and market intelligence to leadership on major account strategy, pricing, and deal structuring.
  • Maintain compliance with all applicable policies, procedures, and global standards.
  • Adhere to and support AMECO's Health, Safety & Environmental and Sustainability Policies.
  • Travel extensively to meet with customers, attend industry events, and support major deal pursuits.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred; equivalent industry experience and demonstrated track record of closing large transactions will be given strong consideration in lieu of a degree.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 15–25 years of progressive experience in outside sales, strategic account management, or business development, with significant, direct experience in the construction equipment industry required.
  • Established, active network of relationships across construction equipment, contracting, and related industries, with a demonstrated ability to leverage those relationships to generate new business.
  • Proven track record of independently sourcing and closing large, complex, high-value transactions.
  • Strong executive presence with the ability to build credibility and trust with C-suite executives, owners, and senior decision-makers.
  • Deep understanding of commercial and contract terms, deal structuring, and negotiation strategy for large, integrated equipment and service packages.
  • Strategic, entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to identify and pursue opportunities others may not see.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with audiences that include senior management, coworkers, clients, vendors, contractors, and other stakeholders.
  • Strong financial and business acumen, including the ability to evaluate deal profitability and structure win-win agreements.
  • Ability to learn and apply knowledge of applicable local, state/province, and federal/national statutes and guidelines.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, for data analysis, report generation, and preparing sales proposals and presentations.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and strategic planning skills.
  • Excellent oral, written, communication, and presentation skills, including experience presenting to senior executives and boards.
  • Extensive knowledge of the company's full business portfolio, goals, and value proposition, with the ability to position integrated solutions for major clients.
  • SAP experience a plus, particularly SAP Business One.
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • Must be able to maintain a heavy travel schedule, including extended and international travel as needed.

Certifications

None required.
