Job Title: Flatbed Dispatcher - Construction & Industrial Transport

Position Overview

GET Freight is seeking an experienced Flatbed Dispatcher to coordinate transportation operations for a major steel mill construction project in Donaldsonville, Louisiana.

The dispatcher will manage the scheduling and coordination of 70-foot concrete piles and other construction materials using flatbed or extendable trailers. (90' concrete piles may also be required.) Upon completion of the concrete pile phase, drivers and dispatch operations may transition to steel cold-rolled coil transportation, providing long-term growth opportunities.

This position requires strong communication, logistics planning, and oversight skills to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant transportation operations, including oversize/overlength load management.

Work Schedule

  • Monday - Friday, 8 hours per day
  • Overtime, weekend, and holiday work may be required depending on project schedule
  • Oversize/overlength transportation occurs only from sunrise to before sunset

Key Responsibilities

  • Dispatch and coordinate flatbed drivers transporting 70' concrete piles and other construction materials to construction and industrial sites.
  • Plan, monitor, and adjust daily trucking schedules to meet project and shuttle delivery timelines.
  • Communicate with drivers, site personnel, and management regarding delivery updates, delays, and route changes.
  • Manage oversize and overlength permits, routing, and escort requirements as needed.
  • Maintain accurate dispatch records, logs, and operational documentation.
  • Resolve operational issues such as traffic delays, equipment shortages, or schedule conflicts.
  • Coordinate the transition of operations from construction materials transport to steel cold-rolled coil logistics after the project phase.
  • Ensure compliance with DOT regulations, company safety standards, and environmental policies.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5+ years of trucking dispatch or logistics coordination experience.
  • Experience in flatbed trucking, construction project logistics, or industrial cargo is highly preferred.
  • Knowledge of oversize/overlength freight and permit management.
  • Strong organizational, multitasking, and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and dispatch/logistics software.
  • Ability to supervise multiple drivers and deliveries simultaneously.

Preferred Experience

  • Dispatching for construction or industrial materials, steel products, or heavy cargo.
  • Familiarity with project cargo, oversize/overlength load regulations, and shuttle operations.
  • Experience coordinating with large-scale industrial project teams.
