Job description

POSITION DESCRIPTION

The Traffic-Control Flagger will have responsibility for maintaining a safe work zone. This involves re-standing temporary cones and signs, as well as holding up signs that tells traffic to either stop or to proceed slowly through active work zones. The Traffic-Control Flagger must be constantly aware of both the construction and traffic activity taking place around them. Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions; work overtime, weekends, and holidays as needed and required. This is a hands-on role, and the qualified candidate must be capable of determining the most effective means to performing the requirements of this position to maximize efficiency and safety.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Position temporary work zones; utilizing warning signs, traffic cones, barrels, etc. per Nevada DOT regulatory requirements and standards
  • Safely managing traffic through active work zones while standing, grasping a stop/slow paddle, and utilizing radio communication
  • Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions; work overtime, weekends, and holidays as needed and required for the position
  • Follow all safety rules and regulations and wear proper safety equipment
  • Adhere to all Company Policies and Procedures
  • Must be able to communicate to contractor employees, co-workers, and supervisors effectively
  • Complete daily paperwork accurately
  • Work well in a team environment
  • All other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Work experience with flagging.
  • Knowledge of the traffic control industry with prior traffic control or road construction experience
  • Excellent attendance required, dependable transportation, good work ethic
  • Successfully pass a background/ drug screen and meet Federal DOT requirements
  • Awareness of the occupational hazards associated with roadway work
  • Ability to be a vital part of our TEAM
  • Responsibility for performing tasks individually when required
  • General maintenance and repair to work related equipment and vehicle
  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Certification (from ATSSA) as a Flagger is preferred
  • Flagger Experience: 1 year (Preferred)

WORKING ENVIRONMENT

  • Regularly exposed to outside weather conditions; moving equipment and machinery parts; moving traffic, and fumes and airborne particles
  • Dealing with traveling public effectively
  • Noise level of the work environment is usually moderate/loud
  • Regularly required to stand/walk; reach with hands and arms
  • Occasionally lift and/or move lift and move up to 20 pounds

This position will be based in Las Vegas, Nevada.
