Fixed Operations Manager information

What is a fixed operations manager?

A Fixed Operations Manager oversees the service, parts, and sometimes the body shop departments in an automotive dealership. Their primary responsibilities include managing daily operations, ensuring high customer satisfaction, increasing profitability, and maintaining efficient workflow in these departments. They work closely with service advisors, technicians, and parts staff to coordinate repairs, maintenance, and parts sales. Effective Fixed Operations Managers also focus on staff training, process improvement, and meeting performance targets for the dealership.

How does a fixed operations manager typically collaborate with other departments within a dealership?

A Fixed Operations Manager works closely with the service, parts, and sometimes body shop departments to ensure smooth workflows and consistent customer satisfaction. They often coordinate with the sales department to align service promotions or resolve customer concerns that span multiple areas. Regular meetings and clear communication with department heads are common, facilitating unified goals and addressing operational challenges. This collaborative approach helps maximize efficiency, drive profitability, and support overall dealership success.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a fixed operations manager, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Fixed Operations Manager, you need a solid background in automotive service operations, inventory management, and customer service, typically supported by experience in dealership environments and sometimes a degree in business or automotive management. Familiarity with dealership management systems (DMS), repair order software, and manufacturer certification programs is highly valuable. Leadership, problem-solving, and strong communication skills help motivate teams and ensure customer satisfaction. These skills are essential for optimizing service department efficiency, driving revenue growth, and maintaining high customer loyalty in a competitive market.

What is the difference between Fixed Operations Manager vs Service Director?

The Fixed Operations Manager and Service Director roles share similar credentials and work environments, both focusing on automotive service operations. However, the Service Director typically has a broader scope, overseeing the entire service department's strategic and operational aspects, especially in larger dealerships. The Fixed Operations Manager often handles day-to-day management, making these roles distinct yet closely related in the automotive industry.

Job description

Land Rover & Volvo Cars Saskatoon | The Wyant Group

Lead two exceptional brands. Build an exceptional team. Drive the next chapter of luxury automotive retail.

The Wyant Group is seeking an accomplished, energetic, and people-focused General Manager to lead Land Rover & Volvo Cars Saskatoon — a unique two-brand operation under one roof.

The Opportunity

This is a high-impact leadership role with full accountability for the dealership’s people, customer experience, operations, and financial performance. You’ll set the vision, lead and develop a high-performing team, and drive growth across Sales, Service, Parts, Finance, and Fixed Operations.

As a visible and hands-on leader, you’ll build a culture of accountability, collaboration, and excellence while delivering the premium experience our customers expect from two world-class brands.

What You’ll Be Responsible For

Lead the entire dealership operation with a clear focus on people, customer experience, and financial performance.

Develop and execute a strategic business plan that drives sustainable growth and profitability across both brands.

Build, coach, and inspire a high-performing leadership team and dealership workforce.

Create a culture of accountability, collaboration, professionalism, and continuous improvement.

Champion an exceptional luxury customer experience from the first interaction through ownership and service.

Drive sales performance, market share, CSI, retention, and overall dealership profitability.

Ensure Sales and Fixed Operations work together seamlessly to maximize customer retention and lifetime value.

Analyze financial statements, KPIs, inventory, expenses, and operational metrics — turning data into action.

Develop talent and succession plans, identifying and growing the next generation of dealership leaders.

Maintain strong relationships with manufacturers, vendors, community partners, and key customers.

Ensure the dealership operates with the highest standards of compliance, ethics, safety, and professionalism.

Represent The Wyant Group and our brands with integrity both inside and outside the dealership.

The Leader We’re Looking For

You’re a proven automotive leader — but just as importantly, you’re a great people leader.

You know how to set expectations without creating a culture of fear. You know when to look at the numbers and when to walk the floor. You can have a tough conversation, make a difficult decision, and still earn the respect of the people around you.

You bring:

Proven experience in a senior automotive dealership leadership role, ideally as a General Manager, or senior department leader.

A strong understanding of dealership operations, financial management, and key performance indicators.

A track record of building high-performing teams and developing leaders.

Exceptional communication, relationship-building, and negotiation skills.

A customer-first mindset and an appreciation for the expectations of a premium/luxury customer.

Strong business acumen and the ability to turn strategy into measurable results.

The energy, confidence, and resilience required to lead a fast-moving dealership.

A genuine passion for the automotive industry and for developing people.

Most importantly, you’re a leader who wants to win — and wants the people around you to win with you.

Why The Wyant Group?

At The Wyant Group, we believe our success starts with our people.

As part of our organization, you’ll join a team with a long-standing reputation for excellence, strong relationships, and a commitment to doing business the right way.

This is a chance to take the helm of a distinctive two-brand dealership in Saskatoon, with the resources, support, and stability of an established automotive group behind you.

You’ll have the opportunity to make your mark — developing people, elevating the customer experience, strengthening the operation, and helping shape the next chapter of Land Rover & Volvo Cars Saskatoon.

Ready to Lead?

If you’re an ambitious dealership leader who is ready for your next challenge — and you’re excited by the opportunity to lead two world-class brands under one roof — we want to hear from you.

Join The Wyant Group and lead Land Rover & Volvo Cars Saskatoon into its next chapter.
