Individual employees, such as line staff or managers, typically earn between $30,000 and $70,000 annually, with experienced managers or specialized roles earning higher salaries. FBOs generate revenue through services like fueling, maintenance, and hangar rentals, which influence overall profitability.

What are some common challenges faced by Fixed Base Operators (FBOs) and how can new hires best prepare for them?

Fixed Base Operators often face challenges related to managing high volumes of incoming and outgoing aircraft, coordinating with multiple service providers, and ensuring compliance with strict safety and regulatory standards. New hires can best prepare by developing strong organizational skills, being proactive in communication, and staying updated on aviation protocols. It's also helpful to become familiar with customer service best practices, as FBOs frequently interact with pilots, crew, and passengers. Adapting to a fast-paced environment and being ready to respond to changing priorities will contribute to success in this role.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Fixed Base Operator (FBO), and why are they important?

To thrive as a Fixed Base Operator, you need strong knowledge of aviation operations, customer service, and basic business management, often supported by relevant experience or an aviation-related degree. Familiarity with fuel management systems, airport security protocols, and scheduling software is typically required. Exceptional communication, organizational skills, and problem-solving abilities help ensure smooth interactions with pilots, crew, and passengers. These skills are crucial for maintaining operational efficiency, safety, and high service standards in a dynamic airport environment.

Job description

Cox Automotive's Product Management organization is at the center of one of the most ambitious transformations in the automotive industry: building a connected One Marketplace where vehicles, buyers, sellers, and data all work together seamlessly. The team responsible for making that vision real includes Product Managers who work at the intersection of strategy, technology, and operations, tackling some of the most complex cross-platform challenges in the company.
Every transaction in One Marketplace depends on accurate data. Knowing where a vehicle is, where it has been, counting key activities performed to prepare a vehicle for sale, which platform(s) it is listed on, and understanding operational efficiency and how data is passing between our systems is not a background detail. This role exists to find friction in data transferred between systems and help build the path to fix it.
As a Sr Product Manager, you will play a key role in ensuring the One Marketplace operates on data it can trust. Your primary focus will be surfacing and prioritizing the data quality gaps that create friction in vehicle transactions, accurately capturing measurements that support operating KPIs, turning business goals into specific testable questions, and partnering with cross-functional teams to evaluate what is broken and recommend how to fix it. You will collaborate across product, engineering, opex, operations, and business stakeholders to build a shared understanding of our data quality challenges and drive progress toward solutions. You will also be expected to undertake other duties as assigned, contributing to the organization's overall effectiveness.
What You'll Do
  • Partner with opex, data engineering, other product teams, operations and analytics teams to find where data quality problems are breaking or slowing down vehicle transactions, and bring those findings to life in ways that drive action across the organization.
  • Turn business pain points into specific, testable questions about where missing or inaccurate data creates friction, then design and run structured tests to confirm whether those problems are real, how often they happen, and what is causing them.
  • Dig into data quality issues.
  • Look across transaction-level data to spot patterns in where things go wrong, assess their business impact, and recommend prioritized strategies for resolution, not just one-off fixes.
  • Turn what you discover into clear product requirements and help prioritize the engineering backlog, making sure teams have the context they need to build fixes that solve the underlying problem rather than the symptom.
  • Engage cross-functionally to make sure the product approach for data quality covers all the right territory: how vehicles flow through the marketplace, what data formats and standards need to look like, how quality issues get escalated and resolved, and which partners and systems are most affected.
  • Recommend and help implement improvements to how data quality is managed across the transaction lifecycle, contributing to a more reliable and trustworthy marketplace over the long term.

Who You Are
  • Bachelor's degree and 4 years' experience in a related field. The right candidate could also have a different combination, such as a master's degree and 2 years' experience; a Ph.D. and up to 1 year of experience; or 16 years' experience in a related field
  • Experience working directly with software engineering teams to define requirements and deliver product changes.
  • Experience partnering with data engineering, data analytics, or data operations teams as part of a product initiative.
  • Experience managing concurrent product workstreams across multiple cross-functional teams.

Preferred
  • Experience with automotive, fleet, logistics, or marketplace platforms where knowing the physical location of a vehicle or asset matters for day-to-day operations.
  • Familiarity with how data moves between interconnected systems and the types of data quality problems that arise at integration points.
  • Familiarity with data governance approaches, data quality tools, or systems that maintain a single consistent record for an entity across multiple platforms.
  • Experience in a product role at a Fortune 500 or large enterprise company where products span multiple platforms or business units.

USD 101,500.00 - 169,100.00 per year
Compensation:
Compensation includes a base salary in the range of $101,500.00 - $169,100.00. The base salary may vary within the anticipated base pay range based on factors such as the ultimate location of the position and the selected candidate's knowledge, skills, and abilities. Position may be eligible for additional compensation that may include an incentive program.
Benefits:
The Company offers eligible employees the flexibility to take as much vacation with pay as they deem consistent with their duties, the company's needs, and its obligations; seven paid holidays throughout the calendar year; and up to 160 hours of paid wellness annually for their own wellness or that of family members. Employees are also eligible for additional paid time off in the form of bereavement leave, time off to vote, jury duty leave, volunteer time off, military leave, and parental leave.
