About Jerritt Canyon

The Jerritt Canyon deposit was discovered in 1972, and the first gold production from the property occurred in 1981. The Jerritt Canyon property contains 30,821 hectares of mining claims located in the mining-friendly state of Nevada. First Majestic acquired the Jerritt Canyon Gold Mine from Sprott Mining Inc. on April 30, 2021. In May 2023, operations were suspended to prioritize exploration and technical studies. Jerritt Canyon is now entering a new phase of evaluation and planning, requiring substantial technical support to advance the work necessary for a potential future restart of operations.

The Opportunity

The Underground Fixed Maintenance Planner is responsible for planning, scheduling, and coordinating maintenance activities for underground fixed plant and infrastructure to ensure safe, reliable, and cost-effective operations. Working closely with Maintenance Supervisors, Reliability Engineers, Operations, and Supply Chain, the planner develops detailed work plans, ensures labor and materials are available, and drives maintenance best practices to maximize equipment availability and minimize downtime.

Responsibilities
  • Develop detailed weekly and daily maintenance plans for underground fixed assets, ensuring work is planned, prioritized, and scheduled efficiently.
  • Create comprehensive job plans including labor requirements, estimated durations, tools, equipment, permits, and spare parts.
  • Coordinate planned shutdowns and major maintenance activities to minimize production interruptions.
  • Review maintenance backlog and prioritize work based on safety, production, equipment criticality, and business objectives.
  • Ensure maintenance work orders are complete, accurate, and closed out within the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
  • Support preventative, predictive, and condition-based maintenance programs.
  • Identify recurring equipment failures and collaborate with reliability and engineering teams to implement permanent corrective actions.
  • Monitor maintenance performance indicators including schedule compliance, backlog, equipment availability, Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF), and Mean Time to Repair (MTTR).
  • Participate in root cause analysis (RCA) investigations for significant equipment failures.
  • Coordinate with warehouse and procurement personnel to ensure parts, consumables, and contractor resources are available prior to scheduled work.
  • Verify Bill of Materials (BOMs) and maintain accurate spare parts information within the CMMS.
  • Optimize labor utilization by coordinating maintenance crews and contractor activities.
  • Ensure all maintenance work complies with mine safety regulations, environmental requirements, and company standards.
  • Incorporate Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), Safe Work Procedures, Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), confined space, and other safety requirements into work plans.
  • Promote a proactive safety culture through effective planning and risk mitigation.

Education and Experience
  • Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Maintenance, or a related technical discipline preferred.
  • Trade qualification as a Mechanical, Millwright, Electrical, or Industrial Maintenance Technician is highly desirable.
  • Maintenance Planning & Scheduling certification is considered an asset.
  • Training in CMMS software (SAP PM, Pronto, Maximo, or similar) is preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years of maintenance experience in underground mining, heavy industry, mineral processing, or related industrial operations preferred.
  • Minimum 2โ€“3 years of experience in a Maintenance Planner or Maintenance Scheduler role.
  • Experience supporting underground fixed plant equipment, including:
    • Crushers
    • Conveyors
    • Ore handling systems
    • Pumps
    • Ventilation systems
    • Dewatering systems
    • Hoists
    • Paste fill systems
    • Underground infrastructure
  • Demonstrated experience using CMMS systems such as SAP PM, IBM Maximo, Pronto, Oracle, or similar.
  • Experience coordinating shutdowns and major maintenance activities.
  • Strong understanding of preventative and predictive maintenance principles.
  • Strong knowledge of underground mining maintenance practices.
  • Excellent planning, scheduling, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to read mechanical and electrical drawings and technical documentation.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
