What is a fit model?

A Fit Model, or Fitting Model, helps clothing designers in the initial stages of garment design. As a Fit Model, your responsibilities include communicating with the designers and manufacturers about how the clothing fits and how the fabric feels, providing feedback about potential adjustments. You also must maintain your weight and measurements so that you provide a consistent form for the designers. A Fit Modeling job is generally much longer than other model work, like photo shoots and fashion shows. It can take a long period of time to perfect garments, requiring you to make ongoing visits to the designer.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a fit model, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Fit Model, you need to maintain specific body measurements that match industry sample sizes and possess a basic understanding of garment construction and fit. Familiarity with sizing charts, fitting procedures, and sometimes experience with 3D body scanning tools are typically required. Professionalism, reliability, and the ability to provide clear, constructive feedback are vital soft skills that set successful fit models apart. These skills and qualities are essential to ensure accurate garment sizing, effective communication with design teams, and the overall quality of fashion products.

What are the typical challenges a fit model faces during fittings, and how can they be addressed?

Fit Models often encounter challenges such as standing for long periods, maintaining consistent body measurements, and providing clear feedback to designers. It's important to communicate comfort and mobility concerns honestly, as this helps the design team make necessary adjustments. Additionally, Fit Models may need to adapt to varying schedules and work with multiple brands, requiring flexibility and professionalism. Staying fit, following a healthy lifestyle, and building strong communication skills can help address these challenges and ensure a successful career in this role.

What is the difference between Fit Model vs Pattern Maker?

AspectFit ModelPattern Maker
Required CredentialsNone mandatory, but fashion or apparel knowledge helpfulTechnical skills, fashion design or pattern-making certifications often preferred
Work EnvironmentClothing fitting sessions in design studios or manufacturing facilitiesDesign studios, manufacturing plants, or pattern development rooms
Employer & Industry UsageFashion brands, apparel companies, clothing manufacturersFashion houses, apparel companies, pattern development firms

While both Fit Models and Pattern Makers work closely in the apparel industry, Fit Models primarily participate in fitting sessions to evaluate garment fit and sizing, whereas Pattern Makers create the patterns used to produce garments. Fit Models focus on body measurements and fitting feedback, while Pattern Makers translate design concepts into technical patterns. Both roles are essential in the clothing development process but serve different functions within the industry.

How much does a fit model get paid?

Fit models typically earn between $15 and $50 per hour, depending on experience, the complexity of the samples, and the company. Payments can also be structured as daily or session rates, especially for freelance or part-time work, and fitting sessions usually require good communication skills and attention to detail.

Job description

We’re building a world of health around every individual — shaping a more connected, convenient and compassionate health experience. At CVS Health®, you’ll be surrounded by passionate colleagues who care deeply, innovate with purpose, hold ourselves accountable and prioritize safety and quality in everything we do. Join us and be part of something bigger – helping to simplify health care one person, one family and one community at a time.

Position Summary

CVS Health is building a world-class analytics organization within the Procurement Center of Excellence (CoE), and we are looking for a Senior Manager, AI & Automation to lead one of its most critical functions. The procurement department has a strong pipeline of automation and AI initiatives and a genuine appetite to change how it operates, and this role is responsible for making that happen. The scope of this role spans the full automation landscape — from AI agents, prompt engineering, and skill development in Copilot Studio, to process automation and RPA where those approaches better fit the problem. Day to day, that means assessing what a business problem requires, selecting the right solution, and owning the work to scope, prototype, and deliver it. When solutions require IT development, this role acts as the technical SME through deployment and owns training the department on how to use what is built. Strong candidates will be technically hands‑on, fluent across the range of automation tools and approaches available, and motivated by applying the right technology to create real, measurable impact for the business. This is a hybrid position based in our Woonsocket or Hartford hub

Primary Responsibilities
  1. AI Solution Design & Delivery Scope and prototype AI solutions for procurement use cases, selecting the appropriate approach across prompt engineering, retrieval‑augmented generation, agent frameworks, and tool‑enabled workflows. Build and deploy AI skills, prompts, and agents using Copilot Studio and other relevant platforms, delivering solutions that are reliable, well‑documented, and usable by non‑technical procurement staff. For solutions requiring IT development, define technical requirements, act as the AI SME through the development lifecycle, and validate the delivered solution against the intended use case before go‑live.
  2. Prompt Engineering & Model Expertise Develop, test, and refine prompts and prompt architectures for procurement use cases, applying structured techniques to maximize model reliability and output quality. Stay current on frontier model capabilities across leading providers and apply that knowledge to make well‑reasoned decisions about model selection and solution architecture. Identify where solutions require guardrails, structured output formatting, or human‑in‑the‑loop validation, and implement those controls as part of the design.
  3. Solution Assessment & Automation Evaluate incoming requests from procurement stakeholders to determine the right class of solution — distinguishing between use cases that genuinely require AI and those better addressed through process automation, RPA, or structured workflow logic. For use cases identified as RPA or process automation problems, gather requirements, and either build a solution in collaboration with CoE teams or partner with IT to scope and deliver the appropriate automation. Work with CoE leadership and procurement stakeholders to assess the feasibility, complexity, and business impact of proposed initiatives, and sequence work to deliver near‑term value while building toward longer‑term capability. Own training and enablement of the procurement department as solutions go live, helping non‑technical users understand what they have, how it works, and how to use it effectively.
Required Qualifications
  • 7 years of overall relevant work experience
  • 5 or more years of experience in a technical or business facing role with hands‑on involvement in AI or machine learning solution development.
  • Demonstrated experience with prompt engineering, including structured prompting, chain‑of‑thought reasoning, and output formatting for production use cases.
  • Hands‑on experience gathering requirements, building, and deploying AI agents.
  • Experience with Copilot Studio or a comparable platform for AI skill and agent development
  • Ability to communicate complex AI concepts clearly to non‑technical stakeholders and translate business problems into well‑scoped technical solutions.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with retrieval‑augmented generation (RAG) architectures and vector search
  • Familiarity with Model Context Protocol (MCP) or comparable approaches to integrating AI models with external data sources
  • Proficiency in Python for AI prototyping, automation, and solution development
  • Experience with Google Cloud Platform
  • Experience integrating AI solutions with enterprise systems such as SAP Ariba, ServiceNow, or Microsoft 365
  • Familiarity with AI evaluation frameworks and approaches to monitoring model output quality in production
  • Background in procurement, supply chain, or a similarly process‑rich enterprise domain is a plus but not required
Education

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Finance, Accounting, or a related technical field
