Minimum Qualifications:
Requires five or more years of commercial or public sector facilities management experience, including a minimum of two years in a supervisory role. Must be available after hours for call-backs at night, on weekends, and on state holidays when necessary. A valid driver's license is required. Must be proficient in the use of computers, including the use of Microsoft Office Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Preferred Qualifications:
Preference will be given to candidates with the following qualifications:
A bachelor's degree in business, engineering, or facility management, or a professional certification in Facilities Management.
Experience managing the maintenance of large, multiple-use facilities.
Project management experience in the construction field.
Experience using building automation systems.
Familiarity with state of Florida procurement rules and accounting procedures.
Requirements:
Employment in this position is contingent upon a satisfactory criminal history check (fingerprint-based) in accordance with Chapter 435, Florida Statutes.
Office hours are from 8:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. Eastern Standard Time, Monday through Friday. Not eligible for Telework.

Position Overview and Responsibilities:
This position is headquartered in St. Petersburg, Florida. This is a management position responsible for the FWC Fish and Wildlife Research Institute's facilities and its field locations. Primary facilities are located in St. Petersburg, Florida (approximately 132,000 sq ft), with field offices located throughout Florida. Travel within the state of Florida and work hours exceeding 40 per week are required. The candidate must be available after hours to respond to building emergencies, as needed.
The successful candidate will be responsible for developing/reviewing capital improvement plans for FWRI, preparing bids for outsourcing maintenance services, and ensuring compliance. He/she will prepare and monitor the Facility Management operating budget, ensuring that expenditures do not exceed the spending authority and that all purchases and contracts are executed in compliance with state and FWC regulations and procedures.
The appointee will oversee and manage facilities maintenance and custodial operations, ensuring a safe, well-maintained work environment. He/she will be responsible for supervising facilities staff and overseeing contract staff. He/she will consult with FWRI leadership, section leaders, field lab administrators, and research staff to evaluate programmatic needs regarding facilities and support equipment, assist in the formulation of internal policies and procedures, and be responsible for the overall maintenance, repair, renovation, new construction, operation, security, and safety of all FWRI buildings. They will maintain a professional work environment that promotes teamwork within work units, and with contractors, vendors, the public, and FWC staff.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of: all aspects of building facility services; procedures and methods used in the cleaning, grounds keeping, safety, repair, and maintenance of buildings; principles and practices of effective supervision and budget preparation; basic audio-visual equipment; security and cameras. A working knowledge of and experience with construction, electrical systems, plumbing, refrigeration, HVAC, building automation systems, fire safety, and OSHA regulations as they apply to facilities management. Ability to: plan, organize, direct and coordinate work; assess budgetary needs; effectively supervise others; identify and solve problems effectively and efficiently; formulate maintenance policies and procedures; collect data and compile into reports; evaluate and analyze data to develop alternative recommendations; understand and apply applicable rules policies and procedures; communicate effectively verbally and in writing; work evenings and weekends as needed; set up, monitor and review contracts and bids to ensure scope of work has been met; use MS Office software (Outlook, Word, and Excel), maintain a valid driver's license; and establish and maintain effective work relationships. Ability to travel as needed. Skills in: Technical writing; project management; managing teams, contractors, and vendors; and developing budgets.
