Store Support Associate (Seafood Department)

We're immediately hiring associates for our Seafood Department. Seafood clerks and experienced Sashimi and Fish Cutters are needed!

ESSENTIAL DUTIES in Seafood Department (Seafood Clerk) (responsibilities include, but are not limited to):
โข Cutting, Packing, and Cleaning Fish
โข Food Preparation
โข Ensures seafood is handled, stocked, rotated and merchandised
โข Checks product temperature to ensure freshness and quality
โข Ability to maintain a knife grip in order to cut fish or other seafood to specification
โข Ability to weigh, price, label, organize and rotate perishable products per Marukai' standards
โข Ensures that all seafood products are in its right place, so shoppers can find what they need quickly and easily
โข Prepare Sashimi platters
โข Cutting vegetables and preparing poki
โข Cutting and labeling seafood items
โข Operating pallet jack, scissor lift, baler, compactor and scrub machine
โข Unpacking and stocking seafood items
โข Maintaining cleanliness of the store/ store upkeep
โข Must clean and sanitize work areas
โข Work Environment will be in extreme temperature
Customer Service:
โข Providing premier customer service, including greeting them and responding to questions
โข Engaging in suggestive selling and other sales techniques
โข Meets or exceeds Department's sales goals assigned through the efficient execution of Company policies and procedures
โข Maintains cleanliness of work area, storage area, and selling floor
โข Ensures a safe and clean work environment
โข Cross Training:
โข Store Support Associates exemplify teamwork and are open to and willing to be trained and step in when needed in all departments and similar skilled areas for filling and development opportunities.
QUALIFICATIONS:
โข High School Diploma or GED equivalent
โข Must be 18 or older to use sharp knives, use ladders, scaffolds or their substitutes, substitutes above 6 feet in height, and to operate or assist in operating power-driven machinery or equipment.
โข Must be able to use job related equipment such as slicer, scale, saw, knife and wrapper
โข No experience required, but a minimum of 1-2 years of work experience in a similar work environment is preferred
โข Experience as a Seafood clerk or Fish Cutter is preferred
โข Possess a CA Food Handling license or the ability to acquire one
โข Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds without aid
โข Exposure to potential hazards exists with respect to equipment and work aides necessary to perform job duties. Hands are in frequent contact with water, vegetables, and fish while performing job duties.

โข Must be able to operate related equipment such as knives, scales, wrappers, compactors, garbage disposals, pallet jacks and hand trucks
Able to deliver friendly, courteous, prompt customer service
โข Able to read, write, and do simple math problems
โข Able to interpret, understand and follow instructions
โข Ability to effectively communicate and respond to questions from the general public and management
โข Ability to interact with all levels of management
โข Has or willing to obtain a CA Food Handler's Certificate
