Job Title: FIRST COOK (NOC 63200)

This position is full-time 30-40 hours per week, permanent with an hourly rate range of $20.60 - $22.70. Overtime may be necessary as required paid at time and half.

Job duties:

  • Prepare and cook complete meals, individual dishes and foods.
  • Plan and direct food preparation and cooking activities in a restaurant establishment.
  • Maintain inventory and records of food, supplies and equipment.
  • Supervise activities of 2nd and 3rd
  • May create new recipes with assistance of Chef de Partie.
  • Enforcing strict health and hygiene standards in the kitchen and follow the rules of health and safety.
  • Monitoring portion and waste control to maintain profit margins.
  • Ensure that the production, preparation and presentation of food are of the highest quality at all times.
  • Ensure highest levels of guest satisfaction, quality, operating and food costs on an ongoing basis.
  • Knowledge of all standard procedures and policies pertaining to food preparation, receiving, storage and sanitation.
  • Follow good preservation standards for the proper handling of all food products at the right temperature.
  • Flexible shift hours will be required.

Employment Experience and Educational Requirements:

  • 1-2 years of commercial cooking experience.

Physical Demands:

  • Requires prolonged standing and walking throughout the shift in kitchen and storage areas.
  • Frequent bending, reaching, twisting, and crouching to access low shelves, ovens, refrigeration units, and storage areas.
  • Repetitive hand, wrist, and arm movements (knife work, chopping, whisking, plating, sautéing).
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull items up to 25–50 lbs (e.g., bulk food products, stock pots, kitchen equipment).
  • Manual handling of heavy cookware, including full stock pots, sheet pans, and hotel pans.
  • Exposure to temperature fluctuations (hot cooking line, walk-in coolers, freezers)
  • Ability to maintain focus and physical stamina during high-volume production and time-sensitive service periods
  • Flexibility to work varied shifts, including mornings, evenings, weekends and holidays based on business levels.
