Overview
Overview
The Logistics Coordinator supports the safe, efficient, and on-time delivery of data center construction projects by assisting with site logistics planning, coordination, and execution. This role contributes to ensuring that materials, equipment, workforce movement, and site access are organized and aligned with project schedules and safety standards.
Working closely with Construction Managers, Project Managers, contractors, and cross-functional stakeholders, this role provides hands-on support for day-to-day site logistics activities, tracking progress, and helping to identify and communicate coordination issues impacting delivery.
Success in this role requires strong organization, attention to detail, a willingness to learn, and the ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced construction environment. Ideal candidates are early-career professionals with a background in construction, engineering, architecture, or a related discipline who are eager to build foundational project delivery capabilities within Microsoft's Data Center Development (DCD) organization.
This position is based in La Porte, Indiana.
Relocation assistance will be provided. Candidates selected for this role are expected to relocate and live within 50 miles of the designated work location

Responsibilities
Site Logistics Support
  • Support coordination of site logistics activities including material deliveries, equipment staging, workforce access, and traffic flow

  • Assist in maintaining site logistics plans, laydown areas, and access routes in alignment with site requirements

  • Coordinate with contractors and vendors to support alignment of delivery activities with site readiness and construction sequencing

  • Support development and enhancement of project coordination tools and workflows using Microsoft Copilot and digital platforms

  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency in reporting, documentation, and coordination processes through use of AI-assisted tools

Schedule & Field Coordination
  • Track logistics-related activities against project schedules and highlight potential conflicts, constraints, or coordination gaps

  • Assist with coordinating delivery schedules and site access to support efficient construction sequencing

  • Support collection and organization of logistics and field data to enable planning, tracking, and reporting

  • Participate in field coordination activities to support alignment between site conditions and planned work

Safety, Security & Site Compliance
  • Support a safety- and security-first culture by promoting awareness of site safety policies, physical security requirements, and access protocols

  • Observe and communicate potential safety or security concerns (e.g., site access, badging, restricted areas) to appropriate stakeholders

  • Participate in site walkthroughs and observe logistics-related risks (e.g., congestion areas, delivery conflicts, access routes)

  • Communicate observations and escalate concerns to appropriate project stakeholders

Stakeholder & Contractor Coordination
  • Communicate and coordinate with general contractors, subcontractors, and internal Microsoft teams to support day-to-day logistics activities

  • Assist in identifying and communicating logistics issues or conflicts to appropriate stakeholders to support timely resolution

  • Support alignment of logistics plans with field conditions and contractor execution activities

  • Assist in tracking contractor deliverables and coordination items

  • Assist in tracking project issues, changes, and coordination impacts to support team visibility and alignment

  • Support quality and field verification efforts by assisting with tracking of inspections, observations, and completion of work in alignment with project requirements

Documentation, Reporting & Project Controls Support
  • Maintain logistics and coordination documentation including delivery logs, access plans, and trackers

  • Assist in preparing status updates related to site logistics, material flow, and coordination activities

  • Track action items and support follow-through on logistics-related tasks

  • Support coordination of site readiness and turnover-related activities by tracking key deliverables and construction milestones

  • Assist in identifying and communicating gaps or risks that may impact readiness for turnover and handover to operations

  • Support tracking of quantities, progress, and basic project metrics to assist with coordination and reporting activities

  • Support coordination across trade partners by assisting in identifying and communicating interface points, constraints, and coordination needs between work scopes

  • Observe and support resolution of field coordination challenges by communicating issues and tracking follow-ups with project teams

  • Support identification and communication of field coordination issues to gain exposure to construction problem-solving and execution workflows

Document Control & Team Coordination Tools
  • Maintain project SharePoint sites and document repositories to support consistent organization, accessibility, and alignment with team standards

  • Assist in ensuring project documentation is up to date, properly stored, and accessible to stakeholders

  • Assist DCD Construction Managers and Directors in preparing presentations, reporting materials, and meeting documentation (e.g., slide decks, meeting minutes, coordination updates)

  • Support collection and organization of project data to develop reporting visuals, progress summaries, and basic metrics tracking

  • Support tracking and coordination of project information flow including RFIs, submittals, and field inquiries to support alignment between design and construction

  • Develop familiarity with construction management tools and platforms (e.g., document control systems, project tracking tools, and field coordination technologies)

Learning & Development
  • Build foundational knowledge of construction processes, site operations, and data center delivery practices

  • Learn and apply Microsoft DCD standards, tools, and processes related to construction execution and site coordination

  • Seek opportunities to improve logistics coordination practices and enhance site efficiency

  • Develop foundational understanding of data center construction delivery by gaining exposure to project documentation, construction workflows, and coordination processes

  • Develop working knowledge of construction documents (e.g., drawings, specifications, schedules, and contracts) by supporting project coordination efforts and participating in field activities

  • Develop foundational understanding of construction means and methods by observing field activities and supporting coordination of work sequencing and site logistics

  • Develop understanding of construction sequencing and phasing by supporting coordination of site activities and observing alignment between planned and executed work

  • Develop awareness of permitting and regulatory requirements by supporting coordination of documentation and tracking approval or compliance-related activities

  • Develop working knowledge of construction engineering practices including drawings, specifications, schedules, contracts, and permitting requirements through hands-on project exposure

  • Build foundational understanding of construction means and methods, sequencing, and trade coordination by observing field activities and supporting site coordination efforts

Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Construction Project Management, Architecture, Engineering, or related field AND 5+ years related experience OR equivalent experience.
Additional or Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Construction Project Management, Architecture, Engineering, or related field AND 8+ years related experience OR equivalent experience.
  • 7+ years experience working on data center projects.
  • Familiarity with construction management tools or platforms (e.g., Procore, BIM/Navisworks, scheduling tools)
  • Exposure to project documentation processes (e.g., RFIs, submittals, inspections, or coordination workflows)
  • Experience supporting reporting, data tracking, or coordination of project-related information
  • Interest in applying digital tools, including Microsoft Copilot, to improve project coordination, reporting, and workflows
  • OSHA 10 (or equivalent safety training) or willingness to obtain
  • Demonstrates a growth mindset with a strong desire to learn and develop within a construction engineering or project delivery environment
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, cross-functional team environment and build strong working relationships with diverse stakeholders
  • Strong problem-solving mindset with the ability to identify issues, ask questions, and support resolution through coordination and follow-through

Construction Project Management IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $97,600 - $188,400 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $125,000 - $206,400 per year.
