What is a First Notice of Loss Agent?

A First Notice Of Loss (FNOL) Agent is a customer service professional who handles the initial report of an insurance claim. When policyholders experience an incident such as a car accident, property damage, or another covered loss, the FNOL agent collects details about the event, verifies policy information, and helps guide the claimant through the first steps of the claims process. Their role is crucial in ensuring accurate information is gathered quickly and that customers receive timely assistance. FNOL agents often work in call centers or virtually and must have strong communication and problem-solving skills.

The role requires strong collaboration with claims processing teams and customer service departments to ensure a seamless experience for the claimant and to maintain efficient workflow within the organization.
