Job description

The Journeyman Lineman is expected to possess thorough technical and working knowledge of construction and maintenance procedures utilized on electric distribution and transmission systems, including components, devices, and functions, as well as rules, regulations, and safety practices. This position is subject to emergency call-back for after-hours work. Performs skilled work assigned by the Line Foreman in the construction, maintenance, and repair of overhead and underground electric distribution and transmission lines and does related work as required.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate work with each customer and ensure tools and resources are allocated appropriately.
  • Promotes safety practices and maintains good housekeeping, e.g. general cleanliness of worksites, vehicles and equipment and assures that proper tools are available and in working order.
  • Assures that safety and company policies are implemented.
  • Climbs poles and uses aerial buckets in confined areas among energized overhead lines and equipment at a considerable distance above ground.
  • Works with energized underground 15-kv materials and methods. 5. Works proficiently with hot line tools, (i.e. sticks) under energized conditions on both 15-kv overhead and underground systems.

  • Meets the public and establishes cooperative working relationships.
  • Reads and interprets plans and written instructions. Works at heights greater than ten feet (example: in bucket or platform truck) to install equipment or connectors.
  • Must keep company vehicles, equipment, and trailers maintained and clean.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

Detailed oriented and analytical.

Ability to operate all tools and equipment of the trade.

Practical and educational knowledge of electrical workers' safety rules.

Working knowledge of electrical, maintenance, and systems experience.

Must be able to lift 60 lbs.

Must be able to work outside, in industrial buildings, and in various weather conditions.

Must be able to climb poles; works at heights.

Ability to drive and operate heavy and light trucks and equipment.

Education and Experience:

High School Diploma or GED

Current first aid/CPR certified

Licensed Journeyman Lineman

5+years of direct experience in the Energy, Oil & Gas industry.

Requires valid driver's license and or commercial driver's license Class A, with an acceptable driving record.

Special Requirements:

  • Ability to travel approximately 25% of the time required.
  • Work variable hours based on customer and company needs.
