Job description

Position Summary/Purpose:
Minnwest Bank is seeking an individual for a Mortgage Banker position at our Waseca location. This is a full-time mortgage lending position within Minnwest Bank. The purpose of the position is to evaluate and analyze the financial situation of current and prospective customers. Provide counseling and recommendations on appropriate mortgage product(s) that best suits the current needs of customers. The Mortgage Loan Originator/Mortgage Banker must be able to multi-task and handle high volume of clients. Ability to work both independently as well as part of a team. Have strong communication skills and a high degree of tact, efficiency, accuracy, and confidentiality to provide a positive image for the bank.

Mortgage Bankers average $65,000 - $110,000 annually, base +/or commission.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Originate quality first mortgages saleable in the secondary market and/or Bank Portfolio.
  • Meet with applicants to obtain information for loan applications and to answer questions about the process.
  • Analyze applicants’ financial status, credit, and property evaluations to determine feasibility in granting loans.
  • Explain to the customers the different types of mortgage products and credit options that are available, as well as the terms of the services.
  • Review loan agreements to ensure they are complete and accurate according to policy.
  • Maintain current knowledge of credit regulations.
  • Provide high level of customer service and build strong banking relationships.
  • Completion of all required Compliance and BSA (Bank Secrecy Act) training and comply with all regulations applicable within the scope of this position.
  • Compliance with Bank Secrecy Act, OFAC and USA PATRIOT Act including Customer Identification Program, customer due diligence, identifying high risk accounts, reporting suspicious activities to Supervisor or BSA Department.

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • 1+ year of Consumer Mortgage Lending experience
  • High school diploma
  • Strong mathematical and computer skills

  • Standard office environment
  • Will require traveling
