About the Role
We are seeking a Health Program Communications Consultant to support communications, stakeholder engagement, and research activities for large-scale federal health programs. This role is ideal for an early-career professional who is eager to develop expertise in health policy and communications while working alongside experienced consultants and subject matter experts.
The successful candidate will be intellectually curious, highly organized, and motivated to learn. They will enjoy tackling complex challenges, translating technical information into plain language, and identifying creative ways to engage diverse audiences.
This position offers a unique opportunity to gain exposure to federal health programs, strategic communications, stakeholder engagement, research, and consulting while making a meaningful impact on public health outcomes.

Location
This is a hybrid position located in the Washington, DC metropolitan area. Regular in-office attendance (no less than two days per week) and occasional in-person client meetings are required. Candidates must reside in or be willing to relocate to the DC metro area prior to their start date. Relocation assistance is not available.
What You'll be Doing
  • Lead development of communications products and stakeholder engagement materials.
  • Drive innovation in communications planning and execution by identifying new approaches, emerging best practices, and audience engagement strategies that improve program outcomes.
  • Develop strategic communications recommendations based on audience research and program goals.
  • Serve as a day-to-day point of contact for designated project communications activities.
  • Identify opportunities to improve communications processes, products, and stakeholder engagement approaches.
  • Learn federal health programs and communications best practices while contributing to project deliverables.
  • Support website content management and digital communications activities.
  • Collaborate with team members and clients to identify needs, solve problems, and implement solutions.
  • Monitor project activities, track action items, and communicate project status effectively.
  • Document meetings and discussions and maintain accurate project records.
  • Create visual communications products using tools such as Canva and PowerPoint.

We're Especially Interested in Candidates Who:
  • Have 3-4 years of professional experience in health communications, public health, policy communications, research, consulting, or related fields.
  • Demonstrate exceptional writing, editing, and communications strategy skills.
  • Have experience translating complex policy, regulatory, healthcare, or technical information for diverse audiences.
  • Can independently manage communications projects and stakeholder engagement activities.
  • Have experience developing strategic recommendations based on research and audience insights.
  • Are comfortable interacting directly with clients and senior stakeholders.
  • Bring creativity, innovation, and sound judgment to communications planning and execution.
  • Thrive in fast-paced consulting environments and can balance multiple priorities simultaneously

Other Important Information
  • A Bachelor's degree is required, preferably in communications, marketing, public health, or related field
  • Applicants should have the ability to obtain a US government security clearance, if needed. Applicants must have lived in the U.S. at least three (3) of the last five (5) years to obtain the required clearance.
