Summary

This is an exciting time to work for Amarillo College! We are seeking our next Adjunct Faculty - Machining Technology who will be all-in on our mission and who is responsible for delivering high-quality instruction in machining technology through classroom, laboratory, and online settings. This role includes preparing and delivering course materials, maintaining subject matter expertise, and fostering a learning environment that supports student success and engagement.
Qualifications
EDUCATION:
Required: Associate Degree in Machining Technology or a closely related field.
Note: Relevant industry experience and recognized professional certifications may be considered in lieu of formal educational requirements.
EXPERIENCE:
Required: Five (5) years of professional experience in the machining or manufacturing industry.
Preferred: Experience teaching at the secondary or post-secondary level.
CERTIFICATION/LICENSES:
Preferred: National Institute of Metalworking Skills (NIMS) certification.
Job Duties & Responsibilities
  • Deliver engaging and effective instruction in machining technology through classroom, lab, and online modalities.
  • Prepare and maintain instructional materials aligned with approved course objectives and learning outcomes.
  • Assess and monitor student progress regularly to ensure mastery of course content.
  • Assist students with coursework, projects, research, and internships as needed.
  • Maintain accurate records of student attendance and grades in Blackboard or other college-approved platforms.
  • Select and utilize appropriate instructional materials, including textbooks and digital resources.
  • Comply with all Amarillo College policies, procedures, and guidelines, including the Academic Affairs Handbook.
  • Perform other work-related duties as required.

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to travel between offices and buildings, and requires the ability to lift, carry, push, pull and/or maneuver office supplies as needed.
Working Conditions: Must be willing to work a flexible schedule (days, nights, weekends, holidays, and varying events if necessary).
Work Environment: This job may operate in a classroom, online, or tech supported setting. This role routinely uses standard classroom and office equipment such as microphones, audio/video-recorders, computers, overhead projectors, phones, copy machines, filing cabinets and fax machines.
