Special Inspector Position Overview: 

With required ACI and ICC certifications, you will perform a wide range of field inspection services at active project sites-playing a critical role in building safe, high-quality structures from the foundation up. Core responsibilities include reinforcing steel inspection, concrete placement and sampling, pre-stressed and post-tensioned concrete inspections, structural steel bolting and welding inspections, and fireproofing inspections.  


With additional ICC, ACI, AWS, city, or county certifications, you'll have opportunities to expand your expertise into additional inspections such as masonry, wood framing and nailing, and more. 

You'll use company-provided Surface/Tablet technology to document inspections, sampling, and field test results daily, keeping you connected and efficient in the field.

Requirements

Candidate Criteria: 

  • Must be drug-free and have a good driving record  
  • Strong computer skills for daily reports and data entry  
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills  
  • Ability to safely and consistently transport up to 50 lbs.  
  • Strong interpersonal and people skills to support business and relationship development  
  • Commitment to serving clients and collaborating with peers  
  • Ability to thrive in a high-performing, multi-disciplinary environment  
  • Demonstrated commitment to quality and excellence  
  • Must have a reliable, field-appropriate vehicle (truck or SUV required)  
  • Daily vehicle reimbursement provided 

Required Education: 

  • High School/GED required 
  • College coursework (a plus) 

Required License/Certification: 

  • Valid Driver's License 
  • ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician - Level I 
  • ICC Reinforced Concrete 
  • ICC Pre-Stressed Concrete  
  • ICC Structural Steel and High Strength Bolting 
  • ICC Structural Welding 
  • ICC Fireproofing 
  • LA County Deputy Inspector (preferred) 
  • City of LA Deputy Inspector (preferred)  
  • Other ACI, ICC, DSA, NDT, or AWS/CWI Certifications (a plus) 

Skills: 

  • Proactive, problem solver, proven track record of dependability 
  • Keen attention to detail, and well-developed interpersonal skills (to effectively communicate and collaborate with clients, subcontractors, city agents, and project managers) 
  • Must be willing to obtain additional certifications (ICC, ACI, AWS/CWI, NDT) 
  • Must be comfortable working in a fast-paced, dynamic, and diverse environment 
  • Must work as a team also while being resourceful when working alone in the field 
  • Enjoy learning and sharing knowledge with others for the success of the company. 
  • Must have a good understanding of the construction industry. 
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook, plus other computer software applications for data collection, data entry, and time/expense entry.
