Bass Pro Shops has outfitted sportsmen and women since 1972, and our new Outpost at Eastview Mall in Victor, NY is bringing that legacy to the Finger Lakes. Firearms & Ammunition Specialists hold one of the most trusted roles in the building, helping customers make confident, informed, by-the-book decisions. Position Summary
The Firearms & Ammunition Specialist performs selling and customer service activities within the Firearms, Ammunition and Gun Vault departments, ensuring every transaction is handled with strict adherence to federal, state and local firearms laws and company policy, while providing a pleasant and productive shopping experience.
Essential Functions
  • Supports a strong commitment to world class customer service in the Firearms, Ammo and Gun Vault departments.
  • Demonstrates firearm features, safe handling and proper use to customers.
  • Completes and maintains all required firearm transaction paperwork (including ATF Form 4473), coordinates NICS background checks, and maintains accurate bound-book / acquisition-disposition records.
  • Evaluates, prices and processes used firearm trade-ins and purchases.
  • Maintains secure custody and accurate inventory of firearms held in the Gun Vault.
  • Replenishes and merchandises ammunition, firearms and related accessories per Merchandising guidelines.
  • Remains Product "expert" through ongoing product knowledge and compliance training.
  • Remains knowledgeable of advertised sales; maintains pricing and signing.
  • Keeps work area clean, neat, secure and well stocked with supplies.
  • Follows all Company Policies and Procedures, including firearms compliance procedures.
  • Provides a legendary experience for every customer, every time by assisting customers in making buying decisions by:
    • identifying and evaluating customers' needs,
    • making product recommendations based off of this analysis,
    • promoting programs including, but not limited to CLUB Membership, VOC and In-Store Pick-up.
  • ALL OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED

Experience / Qualifications
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Must possess a valid New York State pistol permit
  • Minimum Degree Required: High School education or equivalent experience
  • Must meet all remaining background-check and eligibility requirements to sell firearms and ammunition under federal and New York State law

  • Comfortable working in the compact, secure Gun Vault space
  • Some exposure to noise

Independent Judgement
Performs tasks and duties under general supervision, using established legal and compliance procedures. Chooses from limited alternatives to resolve problems, escalating any compliance-sensitive decisions to management. Often makes recommendations to work procedures, policies, and practices.
