Job Overview

Jensen Hughes has a new job opportunity for a Fire Protection Engineer to work on our ongoing project at the Phoenix area TSMC facility.ย  We are looking for an experienced Engineer or Consultant to work in all aspects of fire protection engineering, including building code consulting, fire protection systems, and fire protection strategies.

The successful applicant will have a well-rounded background in fire protection and code consulting and possess strong analytical and creative thinking skills.ย  The role will involve many aspects of fire protection engineering with a focus on Building Code and Fire Code consulting.ย  The position will coordinate and conduct building plan reviews, interpret the building codes, develop alternative solutions, prepare building design reports and coordinate with fire protection engineering design teams. The candidate will be responsible for the review and implementation of fire protection strategies and will coordinate on all matters with design teams and authorities having jurisdiction.ย 

Responsibilities:

  • Perform fire and life safety code consulting tasks related to Group H-5 semiconductor facilities
  • Assist with the development of alternate methods of design and/or code modification submittals
  • Assist with hazardous materials consulting activities
  • Perform site surveys
  • Assist with fire and life safety system inspection and testing activities
  • Coordinate closely with design teams and authorities having jurisdiction
  • Contribute to complex, high-impact project delivery

Minimum Requirements

  • Five (5) plus years of experience in code consulting and developing performance-based strategies in a project design environment is preferred
  • Experience in developing building code concepts and equivalencies, conducting building plan reviews, and conducting field reviews/inspections

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree or higher in Engineering, Architecture, or related field
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to present clear and technically sound fire protection engineering strategies
  • Ability to work well independently and to interact with other industry professionals, associated trades, and jurisdictional authorities
