Fab 62 is an advanced semiconductor fabrication facility for Intel Corporation, located at Intel's Ocotillo campus in Chandler, Arizona. As part of this work, the M&T team is responsible for delivering the engineering, procurement, and construction scope required to complete and finish-out a leading-edge chipmaking facility — a highly demanding environment where precision, cleanliness, schedule certainty, and coordination across thousands of craft and professional personnel are essential to success. The project supports the continued expansion of domestic semiconductor manufacturing capacity, contributing to a more resilient technology supply chain while creating significant opportunity for the local Arizona workforce. Joining the Fab 62 team means contributing directly to one of the most strategically important construction efforts in the United States and helping deliver the infrastructure behind the next generation of microelectronics.”
Responsible for performing field walkdowns, assessing status of mechanical systems and equipment installed, review existing project deliverables, update / review project documentation to reflect installed status and scope. Conduct / Lead design review meetings with subcontractors, suppliers, and customer. Troubleshoot / Resolve technical issues at the project jobsite ensuring that installed mechanical systems and equipment meet project specifications and design criteria. Assist engineering management in project scope development depending on systems installed, identify key quantities / MTOs for your assigned scope and mechanical packages. Participate in project model reviews and support other functions and engineering disciplines.
- Capable of independently specifying fire protection systems, including identifying the most appropriate sprinkler system based on project needs and specifying the necessary fire protection equipment such as fire-water pumps and fire-water storage tank capacities to meet the fire water demand. Ability to perform these calculations and hydraulics to come up with the fire water pipe header size.
- Experience in wet pipe systems per NFPA 13“ Standard for Installation of Sprinkler Systems, NFPA 14 (Standard for installation of standpipe and Hose system) & FM standards.
- Experience in Fire-protection equipment such as pumps, storage tank, and deluge systems.
- Experience in Cooling Tower Deluge System sprinklers in accordance with NFPA 214.
- Knowledgeable in the testing requirements of a fire-protection system including acceptance tests as required and outlined in NFPA 13 and ensuring compliance to requirements of local regulatory authorities including AHJ (Authorities Having Jurisdiction). Ability to coordinate the regulatory approvals with owner, project team, subcontractor, and relevant regulatory authorities.
- Experience in performing and reviewing project deliverables such as PFDs, P&IDs, Specifications, Datasheets, material requisitions, technical evaluation of bidders and performing supplier document reviews.
- Experience in managing engineering subcontracts with design and delivery per contract requirements.
- Knowledge of codes and standards applicable to the design of mechanical systems including ASME, IBC, IMC, and NFPA.
- Knowledge in Plumbing systems design, layouts, and International Plumbing Codes.
- Thorough knowledge of discipline engineering techniques, the design of engineered systems, and engineering and design calculations.
- Thorough understanding of the roles played by other departments on projects including construction practices and the economics involved.
- Able to troubleshoot issues in a field or job site setting confidently, and to provide instruction on how to resolve issues identified.
- Demonstrated ability to cope with conflicting deadlines, frequent interruptions, and multiple tasks.
Requires a bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 5-8 years of relevant experience or 9-12 years of relevant work experience in lieu of degree.
- Degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent from an accredited university or college (or international equivalent), with minimum 10 (ten) years’ experience of work experience in fire protection and Plumbing systems.
- Professional license in a recognized licensing board (or international equivalent) is preferred.
- Technical knowledge of related mechanical engineering systems, engineering calculations using standard software, applications of engineering and construction methods and materials, and engineering application of computers.
- Knowledgeable in industry and regulatory codes and standards, as well as facilitating coordination for necessary approvals.
- Proficient in both oral and written communication.
- Prior experience in planning and executing greenfield or brownfield projects in one or more of the following market segments: Semiconductor, AI Data Center, Life Sciences / Pharma or EV Batteries.
