Fire Sprinkler Designer
Location: Los Angeles, CA
Compensation: $31/hr – $53/hr DOE + NICET level
Position Summary
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Fire Sprinkler Designer to join our design team. In this role, you will play a key part in engineering fire protection systems that safeguard lives and property across industrial warehouses, commercial developments, residential complexes, and mixed-use projects. You’ll apply industry standards, cutting-edge design software, and best practices to produce accurate and coordinated fire sprinkler designs that meet client needs and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
System Design & Layout
- Develop detailed fire sprinkler system layouts tailored to project specifications, architectural plans, and structural constraints.
- Create efficient, code-compliant layouts using SprinkCAD design software.
Hydraulic & Technical Calculations
- Perform hydraulic calculations to size and optimize sprinkler systems for water supply, coverage, and performance.
- Verify design integrity in accordance with NFPA standards and local codes.
Documentation & Fabrication Support
- Prepare fabrication listings and detailed design documentation.
- Coordinate information for shop drawings and system fabrication.
Field Involvement
- Conduct field surveys and measurements to support design accuracy.
Cross-Disciplinary Coordination
- Work collaboratively with architects, engineers, general contractors, and other trades to ensure seamless design integration.
- Communicate effectively to resolve conflicts and maintain project flow.
BIM & Modeling
- Participate in BIM modeling and 3D coordination to integrate fire protection design with other building systems (knowledge of REVIT or similar BIM tools is a plus).
Quality & Compliance
- Ensure designs comply with applicable fire codes, NFPA standards, and project specifications.
- Uphold company standards for quality, accuracy, and safety in all deliverables.
Qualifications & Skills
Required
- Experience in fire sprinkler design and layout.
- Proficiency with SprinkCAD and hydraulic calculation tools.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
- Ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
Preferred
- NICET certification in fire protection engineering technology (any level).
- Experience with BIM tools such as REVIT.
- Background in coordinating fire protection systems on medium to large projects.
