Job description

Last year our HCA Healthcare colleagues invested over 156,000 hours volunteering in our communities. As a(an) Security Officer with Frisbie Memorial Hospital you can be a part of an organization that is devoted to giving back!

Schedule: Full Time: Thursday - 1p-7p and then Friday, Saturday and Sunday - 7a-7p. 

Job Summary and Qualifications

The Security Officer performs a variety of duties involving safety, security, emergency management, monitors CCTV cameras, responds to and investigates security incidents, and assists and interacts with patients, visitors, vendors and staff as needed. This job description does not state or imply that these are the only duties to be performed. Security Officers may be required to perform other tasks or duties as requested by the Security Manager or Director.

What will you do in this role: 

Provides security for the hospital’s patients, visitors, and staff and safeguards the property by immediately responding to all requests and emergency codes.

Maintains alertness for unusual, abnormal conditions or suspicious activities. 

Observes unauthorized persons and notifies supervisor or police appropriately. 

Reports potential fire safety hazards. 

Performs and participates in security, safety, facilities inspections, fire watches, and alarm checks. 

Participates in related drills and tests. 

Assists in various security situations as required or directed as outlined in the Emergency Management Manual. 

Reports questionable conditions, incidents and discrepancies to management or other appropriate staff.

 Writes detailed, accurate and objective Incident Reports and Daily Activity Reports.

Conducts follow-up investigations as needed.

Observes and maintains radio communication with the Switchboard at all times. Must be able to use computers, fax machines and telephones.

Assists visitors, patients and others as needed. 

Provides testimony in state and federal courts if required. 

Assists with patient observations (watches and holds) upon request.

Possesses the flexibility to work weekends, holidays and off-shifts as required by department staffing needs.

Interacts with law enforcement officers and assists as needed.

Will be required to physically manage an aggressive person and may be required to assist a law enforcement officer while restraining or subduing any person.

Will be required to drive a motor vehicle and adhere to the Driver/ Fleet Safety Policy

What qualifications you will need:
  • High School Diploma or GED is required.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license, free from restrictions and insurable by hospital insurance company
  • A Department of Motor Vehicle Driving History Release must be submitted prior to employment and annually must be in and remain in complaince with Frisbie's Driver/Fleet Safety Policy.
  • Must become, CPI, Handcuffing and CPR certified within three months of hire and maintain all certifications.  
  • 6 months previous experience in hospital or campus security, law enforcement, corrections or military is required
