Job Description

Peterson Cat has a need for a Data & Analytics Engineer to work onsite at our San Leandro, CA location.

SUMMARY

The Data & Analytics Engineer is responsible for supporting and evolving Peterson's enterprise analytics platform. This is role performs data engineering, analytics delivery, and reporting, with a focus on modern cloud data platforms, layered data architecture, Power BI reporting, and AI enabled (including agentic) workflows to improve speed, quality, and scale-while maintaining data accuracy, governance, and trust.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Ingest and manage data across Raw, Transformed, and Curated layers based on business and analytics requirements.

  • Build and maintain data pipelines using modern cloud data architectures, including Snowflake and Microsoft Fabric, and support existing SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) workloads and Azure Data Factory where applicable.

  • Design and develop curated, analyticsready datasets using SQLbased transformation approaches.

  • Build and maintain reports, dashboards, and semantic models, primarily in Power BI.

  • Use Python and AI/agentic workflows to accelerate:

    • Data ingestion and schema discovery

    • Sourcetotarget mapping and transformation logic

    • ETL troubleshooting and optimization

    • Report and dashboard generation

    • Data validation, reconciliation, and impact analysis

  • Apply and maintain strong data quality, reconciliation, and documentation standards.

  • Support data ingestion, modeling, and analytics enablement for finance and enterprise resource planning (ERP) platforms, including Microsoft Dynamics.

  • Develop reusable data pipelines, transformation patterns, and data models to improve consistency and scalability.

  • Contribute to data and analytics standards, best practices, and frameworks as part of an evolving Data & Analytics Center of Excellence.

  • Partner with business, finance, and IT teams to define requirements, validate outputs, and deliver trusted analytics solutions.

  • Maintain punctual, regular, and predictable attendance.

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's Degree from a fully accredited college in Data Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or other closely related field; and a minimum of three (3) years of directly related experience in data engineering, business intelligence, or analytics roles, preferably in a heavy industrial environment; or an equivalent combination of education and work experience. Must be comfortable working onsite and collaborating closely with business, finance, and IT teams.

Required Experience:

  • Strong SQL and data warehousing experience, with handson work in modern cloud data platforms (e.g., Snowflake, Microsoft Fabric, or similar), including ETL/ELT ingestion and transformations.

  • Experience with Python for data engineering, automation, and AIenabled workflows.

  • Handson experience building production reports and dashboards (Power BI required; other BI tools acceptable).

  • Experience working with Microsoft integration tools, including SSIS and/or Azure Data Factory.

  • Experience supporting endtoend data pipelines, from ingestion through analytics and reporting.

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience with modern cloud data platforms (e.g., Microsoft Fabric, Snowflake, or similar), with the ability to work across evolving architectures.

  • Finance domain knowledge (GL, revenue, costs, contracts).

  • Microsoft Dynamics or ERP data migration experience.

  • Experience working within the Microsoft ecosystem / Microsoft 365.

  • Experience with Spark/PySpark or notebookbased data processing for advanced transformations.

The pay range for this position is: $105,000.00 - $125,000.00 (Starting wage will depend on experience and education. We also offer a total compensation package in addition to base salary.)
