Commercial Door Installer ($23-$30/hr, Nationwide Travel)

Location: Pennsylvania | Field-Based (100% Travel—Must live within 1 hour of a major airport)


SummaryThe Commercial Door Installer Technician is responsible for installing, repairing, and replacing fire‑rated doors and related hardware within major healthcare and commercial facilities nationwide. This role ensures all fire doors are installed correctly and perform as intended in fire conditions, helping customers remain compliant with fire and life safety codes.

What You’ll Do
  • Install, repair, and replace fire‑rated doors, frames, and assemblies
  • Install and adjust fire door hardware including closers, locksets, latches, and strike plates
  • Perform repairs per NFPA 80, NFPA 105, IBC, and manufacturer requirements
  • Read and interpret Life Safety Plans (LSPs), work orders, and fire code standards
  • Order and install fire doors, hardware, and related materials
  • Document completed and incomplete repairs with accurate specifications
  • Complete electronic documentation and reports for customer code compliance
  • Maintain professional communication with customers and internal teams
  • Follow safety, environmental, and infection control procedures in healthcare facilities

What We’re Looking For
  • Experience installing fire‑rated doors, frames, and commercial hardware
  • 2 years+ of carpentry or construction experience
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and comfort using hand and power tools
  • Ability to read and understand Life Safety Plans and work orders
  • High attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
  • Self‑starter able to work independently with limited supervision
  • Proficiency using smartphones, tablets, and Microsoft Office for reporting

Physical Requirements

  • Regular standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and reaching
  • Ability to climb stairs and ladders
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds occasionally
  • Ability to work extended hours, including evenings and weekends
  • Ability to work in active healthcare environments

Additional Requirements

  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • Valid driver’s license required (REAL ID preferred)
  • Must pass drug screen, criminal background check, and driver’s license check
  • 100% travel required (nationwide, paid travel and per diem)
