Job description

Senior Counsel

Atlanta, GA | Full-Time

About PayMitto

PayMitto is an Atlanta-based fintech company on a mission to make money movement faster, safer, and more accessible – whether across town or around the globe. We build the full experience for banks, credit unions, and financial institutions: from the mobile interfaces that guide account holders through transfers to the platform infrastructure being the scenes. That means multi‑corridor payment routing, partner integrations across financial networks, and real‑time compliance and fraud detection – with the reliability requirements that come with moving people’s money.

We are a 65 person team based in Atlanta and scaling fast. The work moves quickly, the impact is tangible, and what you build will be in the hands of real users.

The Role

We're looking for a Senior Counsel to join our legal team. This is a hands‑on role for a lawyer who's sharp on contracts, comfortable navigating the complexity of a growing fintech, and genuinely excited about working in an environment where AI tools are part of the day‑to‑day workflow. You'll work closely with business partners across the company to support a wide range of commercial and regulatory matters.

What You'll Do
  • Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of commercial contracts, including partner agreements, vendor contracts, and technology agreements
  • Serve as a trusted legal advisor to business teams, helping them move quickly while managing risk
  • Support the Chief Legal Officer on regulatory matters, particularly related to payments and financial services
  • Use and advocate for Legal AI tools to improve the team’s efficiency
  • Collaborate with finance, product, and compliance teams on a variety of matters
Where You'll Do It

This is a hybrid role based in Atlanta, GA. Our office is located at The Battery and in‑office days are Tuesday and Thursday each week.

What We're Looking For
  • 5+ years of experience practicing law, with a strong commercial contracts background
  • A combination of law firm training and in‑house experience. You know and understand both sides of the table
  • Comfortable working with Legal AI tools and genuinely interested in what an AI‑first legal function looks like
  • Strong business judgment and the ability to communicate legal concepts clearly to non‑lawyers
  • J.D. from an accredited law school and active bar membership in good standing in a U.S. jurisdiction
Bonus Points
  • Experience in financial services or fintech regulatory matters (payments, money transmission, prepaid products, etc.)
  • Familiarity with cross‑border payments, international compliance, or card network rules
