Job description

Software Engineer

Tensec is looking for an experienced Software Engineer to design and ship the products our customers actually touch. Dealing with transactions and compliance across borders adds a level of complexity most industries never face — and we believe smarter infrastructure and thoughtful design can change that. Here are some of the challenges you could help us tackle:

  • Reimagine cross-border compliance & operations: automate painful manual processes and make teams far more productive

  • Build AI applications for cross-border financial services: develop intelligent systems that enhance transaction processing, risk assessment, and regulatory compliance across multiple jurisdictions

  • Enable trading & finance for SMBs: give smaller businesses access to financial tools once reserved for large institutions, utilizing stablecoins to facilitate global market access and liquidity

  • Simplify complex global workflows: design user experiences that bring transparency to payments spanning multiple countries and currencies

  • Build resilient technical foundations: support diverse payment rails worldwide, reconcile across currencies and financial institutions, and ensure security at a global scale

  • Level up the team: introduce new technologies and practices that improve how we build and operate together

As a software engineer, you would expect to:

  • Own features end to end — from discovery and design through development, launch, and iteration.

  • Build across the stack: responsive, intuitive frontends and the secure, reliable backends and infrastructure behind them.

  • Partner closely with product, design, and cross-functional teams to translate vision into shipped product.

  • Prototype quickly to validate ideas, then harden the winners into scalable, maintainable solutions.

  • Write clean, reliable, well-tested, well-documented code, and define best practices for development, testing, deployment, and monitoring.

  • Proactively monitor, identify, and resolve production issues to keep the experience fast, secure, and reliable.

  • Stay on top of where the industry is heading — and bring new tools, patterns, and ideas back to make our systems better.

  • Work effectively with people across time zones and regions.

To thrive in this role, you have:

  • 5+ years of professional software development experience, with hands-on full-stack delivery — modern frontend frameworks plus API development and database design.

  • A track record of shipping products to real end users and iterating based on their feedback.

  • Proven experience with popular frameworks; React and Node.js (or comparable) a plus.

  • Hands-on experience with modern cloud platforms, CI/CD, and monitoring tools.

  • Fluency with AI-assisted development tools (e.g. Claude Code, Copilot, Cursor) — and enthusiasm for using them to ship faster and better.

  • A stack-agnostic mindset and the versatility to quickly learn and adapt.

  • Exceptional problem-solving skills, strong product instincts, and an entrepreneurial spirit.

  • Deep empathy for customers and a fervent passion for elevating user experience.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to interact with a diverse team and stakeholders.

  • Experience in — or strong desire to work in — early-stage startup environments.

  • Prior fintech industry experience.

Compensation, Benefits and Perks
  • We're considering candidates at several experience levels for this role. Base compensation ranges from $132,000 to $230,000 per year and will be tailored to your background and qualifications.

  • Equity

  • Medical, dental and vision

  • 15 days paid time off

  • Learning and development budget

This role follows a hybrid model. We ask that you're in our Palo Alto office 2–3 days per week.
