Job Summary
The Product Owner is responsible for the analysis and execution for Nexius Data Platform. This role owns the product backlog, translates product strategy into actionable requirements, and partners closely with Engineering and cross-functional stakeholders to deliver high-quality product capabilities that meet customer and business needs. Operating within an agile development environment, the Product Owner prioritizes work, refines requirements, supports sprint and release planning, and ensures features are delivered in alignment with product objectives, technical considerations, and delivery commitments.
The role serves as the primary product representative for the assigned domain, collaborating with clients and internal stakeholders to gather feedback, validate requirements, and continuously improve product functionality. Success in this role requires strong domain expertise in data platforms and analytics, sound product judgment, and the ability to balance customer value, technical feasibility, and execution priorities to deliver scalable, high-quality solutions.
Responsibilities
Backlog Ownership & Agile Delivery:
  • Own and prioritize the product backlog by defining, refining, and sequencing epics, features, and user stories aligned with business priorities and customer value.
  • Partner with a lean engineering team in a fast-moving agile environment to drive sprint execution and deliver high-quality product capabilities.
  • Build and maintain strong internal and external relationships to support day-to-day execution - including regular collaboration with engineering, sales, and clients.
  • Lead backlog refinement, sprint planning, and participate in PI planning and release planning activities to maintain delivery momentum and minimize blockers.
  • Evaluate and recommend backlog priorities and execution trade-offs in partnership with engineering, balancing customer value, technical constraints, quality, and delivery timelines.
  • Ensure release readiness through proactive coordination with Engineering, Data Engineering, QA, Infrastructure, and Design teams

Client Collaboration & Requirements Management:
  • Serve as the primary product representative for all of Nexius Data Platform clients, building strong relationships and ensuring customer needs are reflected in backlog priorities.
  • Participate in client meetings and limited on-site visits to gather requirements, validate functionality, and demonstrate new product capabilities.
  • Translate customer feedback and business needs into actionable product requirements, ensuring data consolidation, reporting workflows, data model coverage, integrations, and self-service analytics capabilities are accurately represented in the backlog.
  • Communicate product updates, upcoming releases, and roadmap priorities clearly and effectively to clients and internal stakeholders.

Cross-Functional Collaboration:
  • Partner cross-functionally with Engineering, Data Engineering, Design, Infrastructure, Customer Experience, Sales, and Professional Services to align delivery timelines and manage cross-functional dependencies.
  • Serve as the primary product representative for the assigned data platform domain during planning sessions, release planning, and cross-functional working meetings.
  • Collaborate with adjacent product teams to coordinate source-system integrations, data pipelines, dimensional models, BI Hub capabilities, reporting solutions, and delivery sequencing.
  • Present, demonstrate, and document product functionality for internal stakeholders and external clients.

Domain Expertise & Technical Problem Solving:
  • Apply strong knowledge of data platform concepts, including ETL/ELT pipelines, CDC, batch and near-real-time ingestion, dimensional data modeling, and data quality controls, to refine product requirements and support solution design in partnership with engineering.
  • Decompose complex business and client requirements into structured, technically feasible, and scalable product solutions.
  • Consider downstream data model, integration/infrastructure and client impacts when prioritizing and sequencing backlog items to support reliable product delivery.
  • Resolve data workflow and integration challenges through close collaboration with engineering, leveraging knowledge of Snowflake-based data warehousing, BI Hub, Power BI, APIs, Snowflake Shares, and ODBC connectivity.

Product Performance & Continuous Improvement:
  • Define success metrics for delivered features and monitor post-release performance to ensure alignment with product objectives.
  • Drive client adoption, sales enablement, and Go-to-Market readiness
  • Drive continuous backlog refinement and product improvements based on customer feedback, usage data, adoption metrics, and business priorities to enhance product quality and client value.

Requirements
Required:
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in Product Ownership, Product Management, or Business Analysis within financial technology or investment management software.
  • Demonstrated experience managing product backlogs, refining requirements, and delivering agile software products within data platform or analytics environments.
  • Strong understanding of ETL/ELT processes, Change Data Capture (CDC), data warehousing, and self-service reporting workflows.
  • Working knowledge of alternative investment data domains, including fund accounting, portfolio reporting, investor reporting, and CRM/deal data.
  • Proven success delivering software products within agile, cross-functional development environments.
  • Strong client-facing skills with experience gathering requirements, validating solutions, and translating business needs into actionable product requirements.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate independently within an assigned product domain while collaborating effectively across technical and business teams.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Preferred:
  • Experience with Snowflake, Power BI, or comparable cloud data warehouse and BI technology stacks.
  • Familiarity with multi-source data consolidation across enterprise SaaS products and alternative investment platform technology.
  • Experience with third-party data ingestion, connectors, or API-based integrations.
  • Private capital reporting use cases such as consolidated reporting, NAV packs, investor allocations, or shadow accounting.

Technical Skills:

  • Demonstrated full software development lifecycle delivery experience.
  • MBA or CFA a plus.

  • The target compensation for this role is specific to the US. Your estimated compensation will be based upon a variety of factors, including but not limited to your skills, experience, education, licensures and/or certifications and the local market. The estimated range for the role is $150,000 - $165,000.
