Senior Software Engineer (Payments & POS)

We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer with 5+ years of software development experience to join a team building and enhancing products in the payments and commerce space. The ideal candidate brings experience from organizations focused on point-of-sale (POS), payments, fintech, or transaction processing systems, along with deep expertise in modern cloud-native development practices and CI/CD automation.

This individual will serve as a technical leader, driving software quality, engineering best practices, and scalable architecture while mentoring team members and contributing to the evolution of our development lifecycle.

What You'll DoTechnical Leadership & Software Delivery
  • Lead the translation of business and customer requirements into scalable, maintainable technical solutions.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert for the team on product functionality, customer needs, and strategic initiatives.
  • Design, develop, and maintain high-quality software with a focus on reliability, performance, security, and supportability.
  • Identify opportunities to reuse existing components and services to accelerate delivery and improve consistency across products.
  • Contribute to architectural decisions and influence product direction through technical leadership and innovation.
  • Drive the implementation of complex solutions, ensuring appropriate validation, testing, and documentation.
Quality Engineering & Automation
  • Champion automation testing strategies and continuous integration practices across the engineering organization.
  • Coach and mentor developers on automated testing, code quality, and engineering best practices.
  • Define and drive quality standards, metrics, and processes to ensure a consistent level of excellence.
  • Monitor and optimize automated test suites and CI/CD pipelines to maintain efficiency and reliability.
  • Review build and deployment metrics to proactively identify issues and implement corrective actions.
  • Lead root cause analysis efforts for production and customer issues and drive long-term improvements to development processes.
  • Ensure test strategies, test cases, and product documentation evolve alongside product enhancements.
Development Lifecycle & Continuous Improvement
  • Advocate for modern software engineering standards and a disciplined software development lifecycle.
  • Identify recurring issues, recommend process improvements, and implement corrective actions based on lessons learned.
  • Guide teams in designing observability, monitoring, logging, and diagnostics capabilities into applications.
  • Leverage metrics and operational insights to identify performance trends and opportunities for improvement.
  • Stay current on emerging technologies, tools, and engineering practices, including AI-assisted development capabilities.
Collaboration & Customer Focus
  • Partner closely with Product Management, Customer Support, Professional Services, and other stakeholders to understand customer needs and improve product quality.

  • Act as a trusted technical resource for resolving complex customer issues and driving enhancements back into the product roadmap.

QualificationsRequired
  • 5+ years of professional software engineering experience.
  • Strong experience building and supporting cloud-native applications and services.
  • Deep expertise with CI/CD pipelines, automated build systems, and containerized application deployment.
  • Experience leading technical initiatives and mentoring engineers.
  • Strong understanding of software architecture, design patterns, and engineering best practices.
  • Hands-on experience with quality engineering, test automation, and observability.
Preferred
  • Experience working within payments, fintech, transaction processing, or point-of-sale (POS) environments.
  • Experience building highly available, customer-facing software products.
