We are seeking a Senior Clojure Backend Engineer to help design, build, and scale our AI-powered SaaS platform focused on document intelligence, automation, and data extraction for the freight and financial services industries. Recently acquired by OTR Solutions, this role will play a critical part in scaling platform infrastructure, advancing AI capabilities, and supporting long-term product innovation.

This role is ideal for a senior platform engineer who enjoys solving complex technical challenges, building scalable distributed systems, and contributing to architecture decisions in a fast-moving, high-growth environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and maintain core backend services using Clojure
  • Build and scale REST and GraphQL APIs that power AI-driven automation workflows
  • Architect production systems supporting high-volume document ingestion and structured data extraction
  • Integrate AI and machine learning services into production workflows, including LLMs, OCR, embedding pipelines, and vector search
  • Collaborate with ML engineers to productionize AI models and workflows
  • Design and optimize database schemas and queries using Datomic and/or PostgreSQL
  • Improve platform reliability, observability, and scalability across cloud infrastructure
  • Support DevOps and Infrastructure-as-Code initiatives
  • Utilize AI-assisted development tools to improve development speed, testing, and code quality
  • Participate in architectural decisions as the platform scales post-acquisition

What We Look For:

  • Senior-level platform or backend engineering experience required
  • Strong professional experience developing applications in Clojure
  • Experience with Datomic and/or PostgreSQL
  • REST and/or GraphQL API design experience
  • Experience with Elasticsearch or similar search technologies
  • Production experience on AWS, including services such as Lambda, API Gateway, EKS, EC2, Textract, DynamoDB, CloudWatch, CloudFront, Cognito, SES, and Route 53
  • Experience building and scaling distributed, cloud-native systems
  • Experience integrating AI/ML services into production systems
  • Familiarity with LLM APIs (OpenAI, Anthropic, AWS Bedrock, etc.)
  • Experience with vector databases, embedding search, and OCR pipelines
  • Experience using Python for AI/ML integration (preferred)
  • Experience with TypeScript and React (preferred)
  • Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code tools such as Terraform (preferred)
  • Experience in fintech, logistics technology, or document automation is highly preferred
